Today's video is a diorama making log, titled "Jaburo."
It's been about 40 years since I watched the original Mobile Suit Gundam as a child... Back then, 1/144 scale kits were the mainstream, and they didn't have the range of motion that kits have today; they were just kits that stood upright. Furthermore, the parts weren't pre-colored, so it was all hand-painting. Even so, it was fun for a child, and there was a certain sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when it was completed.
More than 40 years have passed since then, and I'm grateful to be able to enjoy Gunpla again like this.
Of course, model trains offer similar enjoyment, and although they seem like different genres at first glance, there are surprisingly many common points.
The biggest common point is that both are precise models and are almost the same size.
They're fun to modify and customize, and they're also great for dioramas.
I often see people incorporating Gunpla into model train dioramas and displaying them like objects.
Of course, there are many ways to enjoy it, so this kind of thing is perfectly fine.
As for me... I'm into Gunpla (only the first series), and I'm currently working on completing my MG collection.
I also plan to build UCHARDGRAPH 1/35 kits, which are currently in my backlog, but I'll introduce them when I have the chance.
I've accumulated quite a few completed MG kits.
So, I felt it would be a shame to just display them in a case after putting in the effort to build them, and I started making dioramas.
However, since these are made purely for photography, I won't add any weathering that would make them blend in with the diorama, and I intend for the MS itself to always be able to stand alone in the case.
Therefore, my first diorama is a jungle scene inspired by "Jaburo."
