Those Shia palestians were granted the lebanese citizenship in 1994.
I appreciate that you always emphasize and give more weight to primary sources, and are heavy in citing your sources in general, it's a hallmark of a true historian.
There are a few thousand Lebanese Shia that lived in a few villages close to the Israeli border. They had been part of Lebanon's political history but became part of the Mandate of Palestine through a collection of French-British land swaps, therefore making them "Palestinians" and being registered as such.
Throughout the refugee crisis 1948 almost all "Palestinian" Shia fled the Mandate area and made it to their co-religionists in Lebanon. Despite them being Lebanese Shia in culture and beliefs, they were still registered as Palestinian refugees and treated as such.
I imagine that the "Palestinians" mentioned were those Shia and that they were actual Shia rather than Sunni Palestinians pretending to be Shia.
