It hurts me so much that there are conditions like FND, ME, Fibro, which are incredibly disabling and cost the NHS so much with GP appointments and A&E.
And yet they are unwilling to put any funding into them to actually do research and treatment that would surely reduce the cost in the long term.
The fact that they are saying someone going from a wheelchair to walking is not enough of a return on investment is crazy.

There was a time in history when epilepsy was somehow demonic, MS - hysteria, Tourette’s - attention seeking, Narcolepsy - lazy and Migraines - somehow emotional disturbance. Maybe one day FND will also be better understood for what it is and what it isn’t. This may be a step for FND but it seems a very tiny one.

I am quite impressed with the coverage given in this documentary, however what was not mentioned is the fact that you do not get better.
This is an illness that you learn to live with, the spasms and twitches you don't notice as much, the speech impediment you don't notice as much, the pain throughout your body it learns to live with.
Above all of those issues which are daily and constant, the worst part is loosing your short term memory, and loosing blocks of memories, forgetting words of items and places. I would give anything to have my memory back.

I know someone who was subjected to traumatic abuse for several years in childhood which she repressed. By high school she was unable to walk ( though she hadn't been damaged physically) . She lived as a paraplegic and was wheel chair bound for four years. Through therapy she was able to fully recall the abuse, reexperience the emotions. She has been walking normally for over 30 years

I just got diagnosed with this disorder. It’s terrible I’m a wheelchair user now.

I have this condition,I was rushed to hospital umpteen times but they just left me seizing ,I even fell of the bed a few times and was unconcious .They just left me there.never an MRI ,nothing.just like the ady you see.or I would totally seize up and not be able to move,speak for an hour or more.They just laughed at me and ignored and labelled as a maligerer.later I worked out that it started after I had 'therapy' for CPTSD what apparently set it off.I ended up in a wheelchair ,tried psychotherapy,but it got worse and worse.I already had M.E diagnosed 25 years before .now 5 years bedbound and dying.this is in the Netherlands .

What a heartbreaking 💔 condition. I truly hope they can help everyone. The NHS is so overwhelmed, they’ve got so many people to take care of and not enough staffing and CASH 💷 to keep things going 🥺

What a shame billions of pounds were wasted on an integrated IT service which was abandoned due to it's failings. No wonder there's no money left for treatments.

I have fnd and the neurologist had neverheard of it he won’t even put me forward for help for it he just said about taking me of an epilepsy med which would cause more seizures
