Curtis Amsden was only supposed to be on the roof of Aldrich Court Mall doing a routine inspection when the world below suddenly fell apart.

By the time he and six others realized what was happening, the mall had become a death trap. The infected filled the building below them, but they couldn't climb, and forty-one feet of empty air gave the survivors a chance to stay alive.

For 100 days, they build a strange little life on the roof. They collect rainwater, raid the dark stores for supplies, ration food, listen to the radio, and slowly learn how the infected behave. But staying hidden comes with a price. Every light, every sound, and every decision could expose them.

Then other survivors arrive.

A van carrying three adults and six children changes everything. The people on the roof have enough supplies to help them, but doing so could reveal the mall to everyone still alive in the surrounding area. The group has to decide whether survival means protecting their hiding place at any cost, or risking everything for people they don't even know.

And then, on the ninety-seventh day, Marisol Trejo turns the lights back on.

What follows changes the mall forever.

This is a long, slow-burn survival story about isolation, difficult choices, human decency, and the cost of being seen when the whole world has gone dark. The ending isn't really about who survived the outbreak. It's about what surviving actually cost them.
