10:49 those are Chinese calligraphy brushes in sizes small (小), medium (中), and large (大).
狼毫 - weasel hair brushes
淡墨书香 - literally translates to "light ink, book fragrance" it is a Chinese saying that describes the process of Chinese calligraphy and painting. it can be understood as "light strokes of ink creates beautiful characters"

I honestly think the point of boxes like these from Muse is to explore mediums that you aren’t necessarily familiar with rather than just ones that you already know. That way you can try out new things without a huge up front layout to start out.

A point about the plastic: While it's horrible for the environment, it also protects the box from getting wet. I had some jigsaws delivered to my house last month, and the delivery person decided that on the ground under the eave (not protected from it, but literally under it) would be an excellent place. I got back from a trip at night and didn't see it, and it rained all night, so I didn't notice it till it was the next day and the box was warped with water. But the top puzzle had a plastic wrap, and they were both fine as a result because it protected the rest of the contents.
So plastic wrap has its uses when your delivery person doesn't feel like making the walk to your covered front porch (if you even have one to begin with) and it's rainy out.

I've been getting Smart Art/Muse Kit boxes for years. A lot of times their boxes are meant as a way to introduce you to mediums/items you may not come across normally. They do post videos explaining how the box comes together each month, so there's usually a method to the madness. Also December's box was a massive clay box. I think it was like 8 packs of clay, all the sculpting tools I needed, glue, glaze and a turntable. D

“It’s a tiny tablecloth “ 😂 also called a handkerchief

I know that Nerdecrafter and Jazza have made their boxes with Muse Kits in the past 4 years or so. Maybe that’s why they’re rebranded and improving. They have ideas now from working with artists.

So the cyanotype printing is really cool. It is a common custom of Costa Rican ticos to make cyanotype printed clothing with natural materials like leaves and flowers. I also have a good friend that practices and teaches it exclusively as a fiber art at our local arts school. She dyes all sorts of garments and tote bags, linens, etc with leaves and flowers, which "prints" them on the fabric, and uses the natural tannins to dye/stain the fabric. It is so so pretty. I have a dress that has the most beautiful deep green color and tree leaf prints on it from Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.

The Cobra paints by Talens are quite expensive, Talens is a high quality Dutch brand. and those particular paints are awesome because you don't need thinner to use oilpaints :) but you can use just water. I have them and they are really awesome :)

Block printing kit, The speedball is very good brand and can be pricey! You can slice the larger rubber blocks into smaller size. You need to keep in mind how you want the stamp look ie cut image or the negative space. I use it for tea towel designs for gifts or stamp on clothing which can look very cool. If speed ball ink is too expensive alternatively you can use any acrylic paint with Jo sononja textile medium for fabric 1:1 and once dry iron on warm setting. ( oh and the cutter is ment to be bent, just make sure you cut away from you, turn your rubber) so much fun!

I'd love to see you make some art with each box  too instead of just reviewing i think it would be a lot more fun to watch   <3

Pretty sure the wood carving finger socks are kevlar. You could stab between the weave and get hurt, but shouldn't be able to cut them.

A million years ago, I wore gloves working with/cleaning a meat slicer in a deli bakery.

The "rolling thing" in the block printing box is called a brayer.

I'm pregnant too and yes, it's a pregnancy thing, your body is releasing these hormones that "relaxes" your muscles and joints so your uterus, abs and pelvis can grow bigger.. BUT it affects also other muscles and joints, so, arms and wrists can be a pain, for example in my case my whole arm was a pain, it was so bad that they would make me cry every night, I could calm it down with those hand therapy balls or find thick stress balls and squish them every day and every moment you have pain, they will help A LOT to relieve the pain. Good luck with that!

Wow, this is the best well rounded subscription set I’ve ever seen. If I were ever wanting to start getting a subscription set, I’d pick this one. Great way to learn new techniques and brush up on old ones I haven’t done since art college. The whole thing would get a 10/10 from me due to the variety and mostly great quality of supplies plus is tutorials.

So many of these boxes could be a stand alone video. even more content for you even though you're planned out!

Art Creation is the most basic and cheapest of the "Royal Talens Family". After that you get Amsterdam in Acrylics, followed by the Amsterdam Expert line. For Watercolors, gouache and I think oils too it goes to van Gogh  and than Rembrandt. With Cobra being the watermixable line that is in the higher quality range as well

I’m in Australia and I subscribed for the first 6 months of 2024.  I loved the variety and the fact that each box had enough to complete at least 2 full projects. My personal favourites were the wood carving, the watercolour inks (sent me on a deep Sumié dive) and the, although the watercolour box was not popular, I was actually really happy with the artwork I produced. I was sooo excited about the cyanotype box because it’s something I’ve always wanted to try but I still haven’t got around to trying it yet.  The 2 reasons I swapped to Upcrate was mainly because of Muse kit’s poor customer service. I accidentally subscribed twice which was never dealt with adequately despite my emails and there were a couple e of other smaller issues that they showed absolutely no interest in dealing with.   Cost also became an issue with postage from the states.

I always thought Chloe just hadn't gotten AROUND to opening all those boxes.  Also how has she not heard of Royal Talens?

I wish the April sum-e ink one had added the sum-e paper instead of watercolor paper, even if it makes it 10x's harder to control the ink flow onto the paper.

the little finger soks in the march box actually look like they are the same material as an anti-cut glove, so they may be very protective.
