Now im working on solar ,diesel heater, and a propane on demand water heater.
Now with all that. I have backpacks setup for survival. I try to keep enough food for 72 hrs in the van.
After a few natural disasters ive lived through the biggest event that started my preparation was surviving the riots in Baltimore city.
We literally had a home invasion. When you get beaten and hit everytime you move then hear your wife yelling for you.
I don't believe anyone should have to suffer that. It taught me many things. Especially training is important. Certain people will stick with certain people.

I was taught to get rid of gimmicks do a few weekends with your gear. Make sure you cover summer as well as winter and rain.
A few trips will solve your problems. Better to find out for fun then findout when it matters.
Also I try to not take anything unless it has 2 or more uses. But that can turn into a never ending what if.
Just like ultra light backpacking turns into a illness. Those that have hiked with one know what I mean.
Hopefully something helps. I started for the algorithm then i turned into a help me comment.
