Dig the list! A favorite of mine is Duke Pearson's "The Phantom" (1968) -- atmospheric and funky (like a darker, more tropical Horace Silver), with Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, Bob Cranshaw, Sam Brown, Mikey Roker and Carlos 'Patato' Valdés on congas. Acoustic-percussive jungle grooves!

I'm one LP short of 200 Blue Notes... unlikely I'll get them all but there's no better feeling than adding another

Beautiful! You did it! Finally, someone realizes how close to perfection Grant Green's Idle Moments album is to the Jazz Pantheon. Your no. 2 is also a home run and spot on as I've been literally obsessed with Autumn Leaves -- listening to it over and over. Your list and the subjective review analysis was so strong that now I am tempted to listen again to your Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock picks to see what I may have overlooked when first listening to those titles.

I absolutely love Moon rapping! At the time I purchased it I didn't think I like it all that much but the groove absolutely grabbed me and the sound quality is amazing. I just spun it last night for another good time

Another great review. Thanks a lot. I collected over 100 albums of the series so far and miss Lee Morgan | The Sidewinder and my personal all time favorite Kenny Burrell | Midnight Blue. 😊

Thanks for posting this. I’ll need to pick up Moon Rappin’ and Grant Green Alive! I’ve got all the others and agree these are awesome picks.

Nice, think I'll get my nephew some and, perhaps maybe, he'll even get into jazz.

Great picks! I'm glad someone pointed out how great these albums are.

Yes, please do a part 2 😊

My 10 favorite classic series are:
Cannonball Adderley - Something Else
Art Blakey - Moanin'
Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue
The 3 Sounds - Live At It Club
Jimmy Smith - Midnight Special
Horace Silver Quinter - Song For My Father
Hank Mobley - Soul Station
Sonny Clark - Cool Strattin'
Grant Green - Idle Moments
Jack McDuff - Moon Rappin'

additional favorites: Bill Evans and Jim  Hall Undercurrent, Dexter Gordon Gettin’ Around and Horace Silver Song for my Father

Excellent recommendations.  Sign me up for a part II

Unbelievable! I own 8 of these - couldn't agree with you more.

Thanks so much! Gonna have to revisit some of them!!

Well done

THANKS, algorithm. I've been rediscovering jazz. Good list.  I definitely have to search out Grant Green and Jack McDuff.  You have a similar dive into Verve?  I inherited a lot of my dad's collection. Most of it is Verve.

I usually find top ten essential's predictable, but the first 3 surprised me.  I might  pick up moon rappin, thanks

OK list but at the top of mine...Ok after Idle Moments which I have aa different copy is Larry Young's Unity, followed by Joe Henderson's Inner urge. Also Wayne Shorter's Night Dreamer is excellent.

Unity LARRY YOUNG!!!

Hancock é genial saúdo de brasil
