I enjoyed this story. Mason changed so much, I wanted them together by the end.

It appears that she already knew and they should have just canceled the wedding! Regardless on what happens now you've already divorced them she should just move on but that was in the story so I'm just going to enjoy it

I think Ava was short sighted in her judgment of Mason and Valarie’s relationship.  Of course there was emotional trauma.  A little understanding and truth talk about what was going on could have changed the outcome.

If her friend drove her to her grandmother 's house..how was she able to drive to the school to work??

There were many times where the protagonist should have walked away.  Going into a wedding with divorce papers signifies that she knows the chances are really high that he will make other bad judgements when it comes to Valerie.  So going through with a wedding doesn't make much sense.  Valerie's behaviour at the wedding implies that even if he wanted to walk away and cut all contact, Valerie is NOT and she will keep on finding ways to sabotage their relationship.  Most people that have attended a wedding know there are things that are completely inappropriate.  Interrupting the first dance of the wedding couple is a huge no especially for reasons of nostalgia on the part of an ex.  That Mason couldn't see it, that he consented to do that instead of asking Valerie to leave, shows that the relationships was doomed.   It's easy to apologize after the fact, but if he was into her really, it wouldn't have happened to begin with.   Just cut all ties, move on and keep it as a learning experience to end things at the first red flag.

Op didn't need divorce papers. She just had to retain the signed marriage certificate from the officiant and never file it with the court. BUt she should have never gone through with the wedding and completely blocked him and his family. The back and forth nonsense that stretched the story out was ridiculous.

This is a waste of listening skills..If you already know the person you're about to marry is no good, disrespectful and doesn't care about you why go through with the wedding with divorce papers already prepared.
