Fun Fact: While Production was filming this scene, George Lucas told Peter Mayhew (the actor inside the Chewbacca costume) to not leave the set. So hunters wont kill him by mistaking him as big foot.

Thumbs up for everybody who ever crashed into a tree while playing the speeder bike chase in every Star Wars video game that adapts this scene.

You know what’s blowing my mind is the absence of a score. The sound effects are the soundtrack

When Luke fires up his light saber you know it’s on!

After 40 year still the best blaster deflections in the entire series.

I always wondered how Luke was able to find his way back after that long chase, and then I realized he must’ve used the Force as a GPS 🤣

I love how this movie, despite being about Luke as a Jedi, never forgets he is also a rebel. The focus is on his growth into a true Jedi, yet the Endor mission, especially this scene, shows that his skill at being a regular rebel, like anyone else in the Alliance, hasn’t changed. He doesn’t consider himself above the other rebels for being a Jedi. He’ll still get his hands dirty, like any rebel.

I love how while Luke Skywalker (at least the classic incarnation seen here) is courageous and badass, he is never without humanizing moments. Even when he does something heroic, such as successfully hitting the exhaust port with proton torpedoes or slicing off the steering vanes of the attacking speeder bike with his lightsaber, he tends to breathe a huge sigh of relief afterwards. That humanization, in concert with his strength as a Jedi, makes him so appealing.

I can only imagine what it was like watching this in the theater in 1983. My Dad told me stories as to how the crowd was going absolute apeshit throughout the movie during the intense battle scenes. That had to have been one of the best human experiences ever!

Leia is 100% a Force User with the way she navigates that forest when she ambushes the Scout Trooper.

3:08 No way guys! I've watched this movie a thousand times and it's one of my favorite scenes but I just realized that when Luke reflects the blast shot the beam gets cut in two. You gotta play it in slow motion to see it.

that speeder “roar” when they’re in the distance is one of my fav sounds of all time, 0:30

I'll never grow tired of watching Luke deflect blaster shots from the bike. They even did the pyrotechnics to bounce them in to the trees and make the trunks explode. I always wondered if Luke intentionally sliced off the control vanes or if he was aiming for the Trooper and missed. Either way he was going to cut the bike in half.

3:58 The famous Harrison Ford finger point. He does it in every film.

What a scene. The absence of a musical score is one of the rare times where I think it pays off for ghe better. Brilliant movie

I miss when movies were as good as this

While John William´s Score is a Masterpiece, it still was a wise decision to not play any music during this scene. It does make the scene way more suspenseful and intense somehow.
