The Promised Neverland was one of my favourite manga, but boy oh boy did that change. I hoped that I'd enjoy the later parts more upon returning to it but yeah, you read the title, that didn't happen. Here, I go into why I thought it got really bad, and why I was so incredibly disappointed with the series. But I also discuss why I loved it. Yeah, lots of feelings about this one. I hope you enjoy it.

Emma: *talks*
Every character: No no. She's got a point.

The story was like writing an essay with a time limit. The first few paragraphs are clear and well structured. You have 5mins left to write the last few paragraphs.

One of the things that always pissed me off so much was how despite Ray being Isabella's BIOLOGICAL SON, they barely interacted when she was literally dying and instead Emma got all the screentime. God, they did Ray so dirty its painful

Mangareaders before watching the anime season 2: What a disappointing ending, I hope the anime fixes it.
Mangareaders after watching the anime season 2: What a wonderfully crafted masterpiece this manga is! Truly marvelous!

I feel sorry for the creators the most. I have heard they had so much to write, so much planned... but the publishing agency turned around all of a sudden and told them they have to wrap it up in a certain amount of chapters and that's that.
It's apparently a thing that happens a lot in the world of manga publishing.

Emma: “ I want to save the deamons”

The little kids who’s siblings were killed, eaten, and were on the verge of being eaten multiple times, and are most likely traumatized by the events. And the fact that they only met TWO demons who dont eat humans: “Yea let’s go!”

In the second half I started playing a fun drinking game: drink whenever Ray speaks. I stayed very very sober...

I think the promised neverland is genius because Emma killed the writer and wrote the rest of the story by herself, she was smart enough to know that it was the only way and that any non-meta option wouldn't work

Norman: All demons need to die
Emma: No
Norman: Perfectly understandable, have a great day

I think what I found most tragic about the Promised Neverland was that the children were absolute geniuses, but they were still just children. They came up with small-scale traps, childish plans, unrealistic hopes, and thought just like a child would. They were geniuses, but they weren't ready for the weight that fell on them.
Every carefully thought out plan, lie, or action was easily read by the adults, which made this situation so heartwrenching.
The children wanted to survive, to grow up, to protect their family but they were still not enough to stop the adults.

I feel like it would've been better if it had an ending where instead of Emma forgetting everyone, that everyone forgot Emma, and she was now alone, but was happy her family survived.

It's such a genuine shame because I'm sure NONE of this was the writers' fault. They all probably had such huge plans and plot twists, development they wanted to do, trauma to introduce, deaths to have meaning, moral dilemmas to be much more severe and frequent. It was probably the publisher who went "You got x amount of chapters and months to get it done soon. Ending and all. Then you're finished. Good luck." Which is so sad for the writer's because they'll most likely get the blame for how rushed and bad the story became.

It makes me really angry that they added so many new kids only so that they can kill them off because they couldnt kill anyone from Emmas "family" only because she didnt want that.

For those of you who didn't watch the whole thing, here is a tldr:

Everyone: Solving world hunger is impossible...
Emma: Let's solve world hunger!
Everyone: Sure, it's doable.

Emma: * breathes*
Literally everyone else: that sure is one compelling argument

Season 1: Unique and Mysterious

Season 2: Let's just answer everything and turn the whole show into a cliché

It became from this thriller, bloody, and mature manga into a shounen manga where friendship and dedication is the master key for all problems.

Emma: Don't start the rumbling
Eren: I'm sorry mam I was wrong about it

How is Emma gonna get more talking time with Ray’s dying mother than her actual son?

@GenderlessP 3 years ago

I was, and still am, so disappointed in the fact that nothing was ever done with Ayshe. Norman literally killed her father. She hates his guts. I was waiting for the moment she would appear as a secondary villain or at the very least some kind of way to communicate that Demons can love, love humans*, and humans can love *them*. They *can coexist. But nah. That's too hard for Emma to solve so it doesn't happen at all.
