3D printed a thumb throttle in nylon and it's such a huge difference in comfort and function

The "too bulky" complaint, which I had never heard of till today, is interesting because a major reason/fear/instant turnoff I avoid many of the options out there, including some of Segway's is because the scooters almost seem too thin/fragile/cheap-looking or like they cannot stand up to too much abuse. The ZT3 Pro is a nice compromise, and the weight and size directly cause its exceptional traction, balance, and steady steering. The GT2 also scores 100% in terms of the correct amount of weight and size, plus it has the perfect overall esthetic design. The GT3 and GT3 Pro are somewhat less confidence-inspiring, as is the Max G3.

When I, as a 170-pound 6'3" fit guy ride a performance/luxury scooter, I demand it to feel substantial in the hands and legs and look adequate (not unnecessarily bulky for no reason, but thick-built rather than narrow, compact, or thin). It's why I went with the ZT3 Pro over the GT3 and prefer the GT2 over the GT3 Pro. I paid a high price, so I want the confidence and experience that come with it. Those looking for thin scooters have an entirely different market for that.

Probably my dream scooter. Packs the fun, practicality, range, and backend reliability whilst also being segway.

Great review!   I own the GT3 Pro, and agree with most everything said here.  It's possibly the most practical hyper scooter currently available, and if you can only own one the GT3 Pro should be at the top of your list.  Park mode isn't a big deal provided you adopt the habit of pulling a brake lever immediately prior to accelerating from a stop.  I am also not a fan of twist throttles in general.  They can't be repositioned on the handlebar, and reduce useable grip.  I treat the throttles on my scooters like the trigger of a firearm; I don't put my hand on it unless I want the scooter to move.   Twist throttles force you to be so much more aware of where you hands are on the grip at all times.  If you don't pay attention, you can easily accelerate the scooter accidentally when stopped at an intersection or when hitting bumps.  You can largely remediate these downsides by adding a Throttle Rocker off Amazon.

Upgrading my G3 to a GT3 this weekend. Can't wait to feel the new max speed.

I agree one thousand percent about your park mode rant 🤜🏾🤛🏻

Best scooter you can get IMO...I have the broken elbow to prove it 🤣. I recommend running in sport mode vs race mode as default 🤦‍♂.

The frustrating thing about park mode is that the solution for convienience AND safety is so simple: a permanent park on / off toggle on the cruise control button with no automatic activation or deactivation!

At a light and you wanna go? Just never enter park! Transporting or lifting the scooter by the handles? Enter park instantly, at your will, with no worry of unexpected deactivation and even while pushing the scooter! The cc button would be perfect for it because it serves no function in the situations you would want to toggle park anyway (below 6kph and no throttle input)! It's also out of your way enough to not hit it accidentally while being accessible enough if you want to prevent accidental throttle at stop lights, for example.

And they could leave the old functionality as well for the 1 person who likes that integration or better yet just expand the customization so for example you're able to use the button for activation, but also the brakes to deactivate it etc. to fit everyone's preference! But it seems meaningful customization even for the sake of safety which they're oh so focused on is way outside Segway's scope of willingness (like customization of the full regen activation point on the brake levers (would be better than a dedicated regen lever because it's two in one without sacrificing either functionality), preventing regen from locking the rear when only pressing the front brake, display arrangement, full acceleration, top speed and throttle response settings for each speed mode, different throttle options (I'd looove a Segway finger throttle, I was looking into somehow mounting a metal jetski/snowmobile finger throttle) etc. etc.)

I say this as someone who has kicked up a max G3 in the air multiple times and almost hit people with it due to park deactivating when pushing over 3kph or pulling the brakes (like when deactivating hill hold or, you know, braking for whatever reason while transporting it) and almost fell off when it activated DURING my boost takeoff with the G3 which felt like somthing like a nail had jammed my wheel! I really hope they finally realise one day that taking away options and control from the driver is a massive safety hazard and a huge annoyance at the very least, especially considering how ginormous they are and how many resources are at their disposal and how most of these fixes would be so simple!

Didiseaon 1 Set Motorcycle Thumb Throttle Adapter, Ergonomic Handlebar Clamp Mount for Precise Speed Control - Easily Convert Your Twist Throttle to Thumb Control.  I added this to my GT2, GT3 Pro and it helps so much.

I've had my Segway GT2 for 2 years now. Overall, I love it! But there are the things I don't like.  The hub motors do not have quick disconnect. It is a heavy scooter, so boarding a city bus is a nono. I can still board the subway system here in the SF bay area. I recently took it on a distance ride from home in El Sobrante,  thru Richmond Marina, down the bay trail past Berkeley and Emeryville,  and onto the Bay Bridge and back home. 38.2 miles maintaining a top speed of 15 mph. My new scooter is the Apollo Go stellar. Great for local commutes and only 55 pounds.

I was randomly thinking of the fluid mosquito scooter from a few years back and thinking, that scooter is still pretty awesome today. On paper anyway,  never rode one. 29lbs, 22 miles, 25mph.. but that would be a cool video series. Get ahold of scooters that had the most hype 5+ years ago and see how they stand up to the newest scooters coming out today.

I find with the Segways they are really designed to go faster than they do but they are limited to the stop speed - I have a pedal assist bike like this when you get to the speed limit of 28 the regen brake starts working against you to push you back down to the limit.  I have a soft spot Segway as my cousins husband was one of the original Segway engineers back when they started in New Hampshire.  He still has one of the original transporters

The GT3P is a slept on scooter. I think you nailed the description of the situation perfectly. Most people get caught up in the whole spec sheet analysis trap as you mentioned. Then they skip over the GT3P cuz you can get faster or longer range for the price. Though, unknowingly they are passing up one of the most “complete” and well thought out units in the industry. Yes, it is not “perfect” and there is room for improvement but it is darn close once you experience what the industry can offer.

Like, I think the best way to put it into words is that the Segway GT3P has synergy. The sum of all the parts together is greater than sum of all the parts individually. Everything has a balanced and working together feel that you don’t feel on many other scoots.

All in all, spank a higher capacity battery in it(40-50Ah), bump the top speed to 65mph, give the suspension more travel and a nice shock like Nami. Then I think Segway would be a serious contender/leader in the Hyper-Scooter game. Segway just added me into their beta tester program, so I’m gonna try to nudge them in this direction.

Best review I have seen of this scooter. Thank you for posting. I used to have a bunch of gopeds as a kid and flipped one backwards once and haven’t been in a scooter since (20 years or so ago). Really want to get back on one and being 6’4 and 280 pounds I feel one with taller handle bars, higher power and dual motors would be best for me.

Just bought one direct from Segway. Hopefully it'll be here in a few days!

I bought a modification for my throttle, called the Throttle Rocker.  Makes a world of difference for this scooter.
Also, I agree -- get rid of Park Mode with a firmware update.

Is there a way to change the acceleration aggressiveness? I wish I didn’t peel out the tires all the time in sport mode or race mode.

Im getting the Kaboo Mantis X Pro, any tips? Thanks! I love ur videos,  and if you could do a review of the Mantis X Pro that would put a smile on my face. Thanks!

I just ordered one last night can’t wait for it to arrive

Own one for a year. It has be great
