Thanks Ground News! "Get 40% off a vantage plan with the Link http://Ground.news/Geography"
Side note: I DID skip a few of them like the Caprivi republic because it's kind of tied in with Zambesia, South Congo Brazzaville because it's not really organized by an advocay group, and Coptic Egyptians are just seeking further protections as a people group but have no land claim.

Also, what other topics would you like to see on Geogra-talk?

The whiplash in this list from "a million people died fighting for the chance of independence" to "one guy once said it might be a good idea to be more independent".

had a dream where there was one of these separatist groups called "The Greatest State of Greatwana" and the leader just kept saying that it was great and that everything was great

As a Kenyan I can tell you that the People's republic of Kenya is not a real cessationist movement. It was just a political tool used by the Azimio la Umoja coalition when they lost the election to get some political mileage. The coalition is essentially dead now that one of its main members, Raila Odinga, joined hands with the current ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance.

I live in Réunion island, I was born here and an independance movement is barely a theory. The last time that I heard about it is when a politician that was active in the 50's died but that was more than 18 years ago.

The other time was when a french panafrican activist (don't remember wicth one) came, he wasn't popular at all and I distinctly remember my mother watching him on TV and saying that he was really scary. I remember it because it was the first time, that I remember, that I saw my mother visibly disturbed by something on the news.

16:33 This isn't actually the flag of the Kingdom of Benin, by the way - It's a completely random, unidentified flag found by the British during their 1897 invasion of the Kingdom.

Calling this the flag of Benin is like calling a Dunkin' Donuts flag "The US flag" because it's a flag that happened to be found within US borders

I find it stupid how somaliland isn’t recognized. Like, it’s an actually functional and stable Somali state, a democracy no less, while the rest of Somalia has been embroiled in war for three decades.

Fun fact: The tune of the Biafran national anthem was that of the Finlandia Hymn, composed by Jean Sibelius; and Biafra called itself: ”The Land of the Rising Sun”, à la Japan.

For Kabylia, all genetics studies show that there was no mixing with vandals. They actually never cohabited. They were allies against Rome when Vandals entered North Africa. That's it. Vandals mixing with Kabyles is colonial French propaganda that subsisted within the Algerian folklore
