Very helpful techniques! and is great how flat paint allows nicely the use of oils without a clear coat. Just one question, did you added future or any clear coat between every discoloration step?

Just want to know if you would be doing metal scratches for weathering, I've been trying to learn that technique but cant really find it.

Is it safe to use lacquer clearcoats (like Testors dullcote) over the oil paint?

now, for the base coat before  you started with the oils, is it just flat paint (acrylic? enamel?) or sealed with something?

and would this work with a gloss surface? or do we need the flat to soak it up abit

Another great tutorial! Another way to do these panels is a watercolour technique (which will work with oils too). I've done acrylic washes this way and it transfers from paper to model pretty well:
