I had a thought about the wire on the magnets, did i remember you saying you inherited some bales of silage/haylege from previous tenant, if so i just wonder if it had picked up some wire while baling, this would make more sense as there more likely to eat it if its in the longer fodder, it carnt be the clamp as the forager will have a metal detector on it.
