Can you beat Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance without parrying? I take on All the Unc's on Hard difficulty, Monsoon, Jetstream Sam and Senator Armstrong without relying on Raiden’s main defence.

The rules: no voluntary parrying, dodging allowed.

A cyborg ninja with a perfectly good sword, and I've decided defending myself with it is off the table. Sensible.

my first playthrough was playing without parry cuz i didn't know how to parry. Armstrong made me learn to parry things

I didnt discover the Parry mechanic until it was required for Revengence difficulty. That means I never saw ANY of the additional boss phases normally encountered with parrying until that final lap

Ah... i remember my first playthrough. I had to google and i quote "HOW THE ACTUAL FUCK DO I MAKE RAIDEN FUCKING PARRY" and even then, i played on easy for a good while before i stopped being a fucking coward.

Got up to Sam on my first playthrough without ever intentionally parrying, never figured out what triggered it. Had to look it up. You got this fam.

Strange he never got the idea to just use the slide kick (press Y during Ninja run) as a defensive option, as not only can you dodge with that but you can also slide under lot of attacks with that as well.

My 1 playthrough was basically just jumping around and spamming the defensive offense or whatever it's called because i was too dumb to learn parrying lmao

If you throw an EMP Grenade at him while he's purple you can daze him and use BM to attack his head (when you cut the vehicles that he throws at you they have a chance of either dropping Nanopaste or EMP Grenades).

My first playthrough went like this from a mix of severe skill issue and the VR tutorials being absolutely useless. When I got to Armstrong, I just went through all the previous levels again to get the health upgrades.

I don't mind the video title or anything. I just wanted to share a cool fact.
Parrying is an umbrella term that refers to avoiding an attack by any means.
So dodging, deflecting, blocking, or, perhaps even running? All count as parries.
Anyway, it always excites me to see new Metal Gear R.R. content. I'm enjoying this video a lot.

Skipping his phase 2 is absolute criminal.
