So a little history lesson behind the thunderbolt as an escort fighter. Until the p-51 c variant of the Mustang was introduced, the thunderbolt was the main escort fighter due to the heavy hitting armament and it being the most readily available aircraft the British and Americans had til the fall of I want to say 42. However with the introduction of the P-51 C, the mustang was more fuel efficient than the thunderbolt and was way more maneuverable. So the thunderbolt transitioned from an escort fighter, to a front line strike aircraft.
(This is based on my memory so a few details may be wrong, but I believe that’s the case)

It’s a happy day when Kila uploads

I’ve got a potentially good video idea for you, Kila! One kill with every gun pod plane! (Planes with external gun-pods which are stock are counted)

They used the P 47 thunderbolt as an escort plane in Call of Duty® World War II

Literally my favorite plane. Commented to boost the algorithm

6:50 I'm the Ki, was out of ammo and trying to get the XP-50 to panic

@3:00

P-47s largely as fighters were more effective than the P-51D series. Due to a bit of internal politics and economic measures, they used the P-51D instead even though the P-47 was a superior fighter. People cite "range" as a reason, but the P-47D had 200 gallon fuel tanks that it could carry.

Fun Fact: Call Of Duty WW2 had a plane mission escorting bombers using the P-47s

1:55  YAY MY country mentioned

Has he already done every Mustang variant in-game? If so, then he should dooooooo... every BF-109.
Anyways, P-47 gotta be one'a my fave American fighters, it's an absolute boat and climbs not-so-greatly but damn does it feel fun w/ 8 cannons and 3000 rounds of BMG goodness.

Yoo p47 my beloved :D
Also Can't wait for the dang p51 flight

at 14:16 you didn't get those kills was because that russian BTR-150D shot your bomb and somehow got kill credit for 2 of them. Look at the kill feed and you can see panzer IV and Chi-To dying to 14.5mm lol.

That xp50 fight was cinema.

17:20 it’s pretty ironic saying someone’s aim is terrible but you did have quite a few bad moments yourself😂 great video though 👍

Kila West + us + p-47 = banging vid

This is literally the best video you've ever made. Absolute peak.

2:50 Yeah P-47 was main allied fighter plane alongside spitfire. It entered service in 1942, and it alone was used to destroy luftwaffe, basically till feb 1944 when mustang came around, all the heavy job was already done by thundies and they arrived when the job was already done, and you could make P-51s way faster and cheaper, like i belive for the cost and time spent on single P-47 you could get a 2.5 of P-51s. So yeah mustangs arrived when the air war was almost already won and they had massive numerical superiority, and obviously if you won, there is more sense to it to use cheaper fighter than bigger older one that already done it job, so they sent the thundies to do ground strike mainly from mid '44 as it was better at it than any other plane that existed back then, only comparable with Fw-190F and G, Typhoons, mosquitos and it arguably was still better than all of those.
I love the irony of these two planes, the P-47 and P-51 design philosophy. P-47 was designed as high alt escort and air supriority fighter, and when it did exactly that it became main attack platform. Fist P-51s were designed as ground strike airframes, later in P-51B modes they switched the engine for the spitfire ones and ended up not doing the ground attack almost at all, bc they just used P-47s for that. (Yes i know P-51 were also doing a lot of ground attack, but the irony is still there.)

they built the p51 to replace the p47 to protect the bombers

Kila became a history teacher

Honestly, the ease with which you lob those bombs from a long distance and hit right next to a tank makes it look like hacking to a newby.
