The NYC metro area needs more cross-hudson rapid transit, not just the Port Authority!

I really do hope the PATH improves. I would love to take it more often, but currently I don't have much reason to. I hate that New Jersey is prioritizing highway widenings in this day and age, it's so backwards. Good luck to all PATH riders! I'll definitely help as much as I can as well!

A Subway that runs every 20 minutes is a uniquely American phenomenon.

In Canada it is literally unthinkable to imagine waiting 10 minutes for the TTC subway, Montreal Metro or Vancouver Skytrain

PATH was an blunder of epic proportions. It should have been part of either NJ Transit, the LIRR or the subway system, with a 2nd major rail hub in lower Manhattan and a tunnel to developing Downtown Brooklyn (Atlantic Terminal). The lack of coordination between NYC/NJ/Amtrak created the world's most inefficient & ineffective rail system. It should be so much better. Mergers are needed to bring some sense to it all.

It always has been hard to gain political support in NJ for travel to NYC.

Now I’d love to see you and JTA as a whole tackle videos on pros and cons of absorbing path lines into MTA and what service patterns and extensions through the five boroughs and Jersey you’d put on that unified map.

At the game on Wednesday people were already lining up 4 hours early and America Dream Mall across the walkway had some promotion.

Rode the PATH yesterday from Christopher Street to 34th Street, outside of Rush Hour, had to wait 15 minutes for a slow-ass train to arrive, and now I see why people would rather ride the MTA, even if it's more dangerous.

I really hope PATH can improve, or if the MTA can incorporate PATH into their system.

The PATH has been getting improved quite well this year.

Why hasnt the idea of path leaving the PA and joining up with the MTA? Or more advocacy should take places for all the agencies to come together for tri-state regional rail agency, aka TSRRA

Ironically the entire Hoboken/33rd st lines is having an unplanned closure for the whole weekend at the time this video dropped

I would like to see them do the 1960s plan for PATH expansion which had the PATH extended to Newark Airport , Midtown Elizabeth out to Cranford and the North Shore of SI.   Another Branch would split off from just West of Kearny JCT to service DT Harrison , North Newark under Bloomfield Ave up to Montclair.

Not well known is that PATH on weekends used to follow the daytime pattern of four lines, with no detours.  This was suspended in 2006 to accommodate work on the WTC station.  Many years later, it has never been restored and PATH officials will often pretend it never even existed.  It's infuriating.

Very nicely done. Good and accurate coverage, and I don't normally say that about YouTube videos. PATH has always been a transit wonder hidden in plain sight. But, for the most part, it hasn't changed since the days of the H&M; longer platforms/trains. Any kind of joint service with the TA is a nonstarter for the aforementioned regulatory reasons and the city's transit unions will fight to the death to protect their turf. Nevertheless, the "cleanest" potential would be for PATH to annex the 7 train and extend under the river to Secaucus Transfer and thence connect to Harrison, Newark and ultimately the airport. PATH and the 7 are both built to IRT standards. The TA will have to be given something in return. Maybe the long-delayed 2nd Ave subway? Just some ramblings from a retired railroader in Florida.

I really do hope the PATH system improves on its current state. It’s such a good way to get where you need to go to, from NJ to NY and vice versa. And something like that should be worth considering and investing into.

The combined JSQ-Hoboken-33 route used to run late nights only on weekdays and start at like 9 on weekends, which was bad enough.  It became an all weekend thing while they were building the current WTC station because not running HOB/WTC allowed them to only use one platform at WTC. They actually went back to running the normal four routes on weekends for a little while but at some point the combined service came back and has not gone away. It really is horrible.
