I enjoyed this. People need to understand that nonrepresentational art is not about what it depicts but rather what it evokes in the viewer based on what they bring to the viewing experience. It is also important to understand that nonrepresentational art does indeed have interesting motivations behind it.
Are these men robots? Stiff, no eye contact, almost repressed and giving the impression they are insanely bored. I love Twombly's work but it becomes cold and sterile with these two warbling on.
Cy and Rauschenberg were in a relationship , don't be ignorant by saying they were close. They were more than friends . And growing up and being a gay man in those Times and the difficulties that may have had on ones life would have influenced his art too I'm sure .
(Let the younger man speak). And, I am always more interested in art then hearing about old grudges and art politics — that go back decades. And, coincidentally, I would not have minded seeing more of the art as well. (Hand over the remote ... Lol)
