One of the biggest things I tell students:
PLAY MUSIC TOGETHER.
Not just alone in a bedroom chasing perfection. That shared experience matters more than people realise.

There is no better Tool cover out there, from musicians of any age.

Looking forward to Andrew's reaction.

12 years and 31mil views later still the undisputed champ of tool covers

Hi Andrew! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I thought you would! I come back and listen to this performance often. All the kids did such a great job, and the different instrumentation is a treat to listen to, especially the added piano, as you noted. I also love how well produced and engineered the track is -- the kids and their teachers have done a fine job getting excellent sounds out of the instruments, with the guitar and the bass tones doing justice to the original.

Parents, please tell your kids, multiple times every day, that you love them. Hug them a lot. Never let them believe that they must have a talent or a “use” in order to be loved or to have value

I’ve watched this video a hundred times, literally, this group performs the best cover ever. They’re amazing🎼🎤🎸🥁

My wife has been playing piano since she was four years old. She has bachelor degrees in music and business. She climbed the corporate ladder and walked away to focus on music. We now have a studio in our house and she's one of the most respected performer and teacher in the Texas panhandle. I'm blown away hearing her students improve so quickly and how they really bond with her.

The bassplayer is awemazing
okeefe has put out so  much awesome talent

I’m volunteering as part of a group called Born to Perform in Ireland that gets kids together to perform, create bands/groups and then perform at gigs around the area.  My son is a guitarist who used to just play in his room and now that he’s found this group he’s in multiple bands and loving the music and friendship even more.  Everything you said is so true and I’m love watching it happen!!!

The young dude playing the tribal sticks is the best
He’s the click to the ground

The time signature differs, alternating primarily between 7/8 & 4/4 with some polyrythmic elements. The drums in the intro play 7/8 while the rest of the band play 4/4 while synching up so well on the downbeat of the 5th measure.

Goosebumps. Kala Scarpinsky changed her "stage name" to Kala Rose after this. (I found the O'Keefe foundation with this song.) Back then. Never knew what became of the others. Pls also look at their (O'Keefe) tke on Love song. (Sidenote: the kids are choosing a song they would like to play. I'ts  not this:"you should try and play this or that.")

Playing live, together, even if it’s in a recording studio or a garage is fantastic. The purest form of the art of music.

Me, I’ve been going to concerts for about fifty years. I saw Johnny Cash when I was six. My whole family went. Cash was my hero after that. Well, for two years until I found Thin Lizzy and KISS. I’m fifty-eight, now. Of course my favorites are the bands that were there in my formative years. Though I never had a real chance to see him live, Prince is my absolute.

I’m an ‘80s Metal Head in all actuality. I simply love everything about the bands. ( not Poison, Warrant, Stryper, White Lion or bands like that )
I love Motley Crue, the earliest offerings, I love Def Leppard’s earliest offerings, I love all of Cinderella, Great White, Queensryche ( Geoff Tate years ) all of Crimson Glory with Midnight, Priest, Maiden, Megadeth up to Countdown to Extinction and early Scorpions, and so many others.

But Prince blew me away through all of his daring changes. Queen is second, but compared to Prince, Queen is a long way off as a second.

Luckily, the majority of the artists I put in my comment, I saw in concert. Even many not listed bands. I saw Tool at an Ozzfest. They played an unexpected extended set due to the fact that half of Megadeth had the flue, or at least claimed that they were victims of the flue. But at that Ozzfest, two bands were complete show stealers.

Seven Dust went on as one of the early bands. They were so hot and tight. Great performance.
But Tool came out and they were simply Tool. One of the greatest live acts I’ve ever seen. Maynard came out as a televangelist preacher and welcomed all the fans to the “Church of Jesus-Fucking-Christ.” Then the band simply kicked the shit out of all those in attendance. I don’t care who you are. Nor do I care if you even like Tool, you would still have to admit how great Tool’s top tier talent played. You must admit how tight they were. And you most importantly need to admit how fitting their stage show is when you compare it to the style of music that they play.

But the most fun I’ve ever had at a concert happened with two different acts. Billy Idol and Night Ranger were so much fun.

Weird Al and Joan Jett were similarly fun shows as well. I truly enjoyed Rick Springfield and QuarterFlash and the act that opened for them. I just can’t recall the regional band that made up a third act. The opening acts opening act wasn’t even listed on the ticket or the ads that were promoting the show.

If you’ve never experienced live shows in person, you cannot fully say that you completely understand what a musical act is all about.

In the ‘70s and the ‘80s, concerts were actually affordable. Especially if you consider the fact that almost every act toured relentlessly. For instance, my ticket for the Ratt concert with Bon Jovi and Rail opening was only $15.00. Weird Al with Joan Jett opening was $12.00.

Live is the best way to decide how great an act truly is. You’re in a large room with thousands of like-minded “friends.”

In our town of only sixty-thousand inhabitants, so if a Rock or Pop act came to town, music fans went to it, no matter how you felt about the acts. Why? Because live is worth it. Even if you’re not a big fan.

Sure, some shows end up being horrible, but even then, fun can still be had.

Yeah, live is so much fun. Live is the experience.

That was insane, wow so much talent in that room, that totally blew my mind being they are all so young, damn 😮

This is by far the best and straight up coolest cover ive ever heard!!

I've also watched that video many times over the years and like their version better than the original, even through I am a big Tool fan. Enjoyed your perspective too. I'm a couple of years into learning drums and I'm in my late 50's. Thanks!

Good luck finding time signatures in Tool Songs

This is one of Danny's best works and this kid nails it, amazing.

Watched this when it was released, then so many times since over the years. It's absolutely fantastic!
