Should you buy the Android version of a game, or get the Steam version and play it through GameNative on your Android handheld?
On paper, both options can give you access to the same games - but the experience can be surprisingly different.
In this video, I put Native Android Gaming and GameNative head-to-head to see how they compare when it comes to things that actually matter on a handheld: battery life, power consumption, loading times, screen aspect ratios, compatibility and overall ease of use.
I’ll be testing several games, including:
🎮 Brotato
🎮 Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
🎮 Streets of Rage 4
🎮 Halls of Torment
🎮 TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge
And there are some interesting differences between the two platforms that you might not expect.
So, if you're trying to decide whether to buy the Android or Steam version of a game for your handheld, this comparison might help you decide which way to go.

I received some feedback that mentioning “full screen” in the context of aspect ratio was confusing to some people. Sorry for the confusion there - I meant to say 'adaptive' aspect ratio, where when you play those games listed as 'full screen', it adapts to your screen aspect ratio whether it is 16:9 or 4:3. Not all games do this and there are a number of games that are hard coded to mostly a 16:9 aspect ratio, even android games. So hopefully that makes sense and is clearer now. Thanks
