Really good 3D modelling! There are a few items I picked up that could be improved; 1. look at splitting the water tanks to hang one under each side of  the cabin, further forward. This will remove the step up and give the truck better weight balance - less porpoising over undulations and less stress on your shocks. 2. the access to the rear seating looks compromised. Especially on the bathroom side. Maybe swap the bathroom around so the toilet is to the seating end, allowing the bathroom to reduce width tapering 150mm or so. 3. Definitely 12v compressor fridge. 3 way fridges are problematic and not efficient. 4. a microwave over the fridge. 5.  rear window - even with the gear hanging off the back a rear window will find times when it will be worth having. Might be a good idea to place the water tanks as far forward as possible,maybe under the children’s beds as it may overload the rear axle weight limit.good luck guys 👍

About the fridge, definitely go for a Compressor Fridge. They cool much much better then the Absorber fridges. Also absorber don't cool well when it is hot or when you stand in an angle.
If possible, go with a 24V or even 48V electrical system to safe on cable thickness. (for 12V appliances you just use a DC-DC inverter)
You could use a invisacook system, which allows you to keep the work top space but you can still have the stove build it. And still have portable one for outside. Removing friction wherever you can helps a lot for daily live. (taking out the portable one, setting it up, cleaning, removing etc...)
If you want to do some smart home things, make sure to watch the channel from smartyvan

For the fridge I would recommend a 24v fridge. This will be powered by you batteries then off grid and then through your battery charge when hooked up. This safes the need for gas. Also I would recommend DC to DC charging from the truck when driving 😉

You're a bit ahead of us, we're just building the box on a 4x4 Eurocargo. Good info on your design, always interesting to see how others see the life and general flow in, what is essentially, a fairly small space at the end of the day.

My 2 cents worth after building out an ex-army workshop cabin (on container locks for removal) on a ex Australian army Unimog. I have no plans to take it outside of Australia so obviously your design will be different.  I run 24 volts-12 volt converter, all Victron, easy to install, well designed and plenty of support, 5k inverter, as much solar as I could put on the roof, (forget the fancy tilt panels, in my opinion they just add to unnecessary complexity). Dc-dc charger off the truck system.  I have 4x12v - 240amp (series/parallel) lithium batteries. If upgrading I would use 24v batteries and have more amps for more kWhs. Batteries are where your ability to stay off grid lies, the heart of the system. 12/24 volt fridge (easy to have a 240/110v transformer for it when you have shore power). I have numerous 240v AC power points. My opinion is you will not need gas or a generator unless you’re stopping for more than a few days and there’s no sun. You can always get a generator or a small gas stove easily later if you think you will need them. I used 30mm x 3mm aluminium square tube to frame my cabinets, welded. Screwed corner brackets etc for any later after thoughts and forgotten inclusions. Glued and screwed/riveted aluminium composite panel. Compostable loo✅.
I built my own bed lift. 2 x 12v motors winding seat belt straps. Seat belt buckles to detach if necessary. Attached to one wall with heavy duty 3D printer rails and pivot ball joints for stability. Truma reverse cycle aircon, espal.. diesel water/air heater. Microwave/air/ convection oven, 12/24v 80 ltr fridge/freezer plus 12v Engle style fridge box. Work out your budget then add 30% then another 10% for design changes and you may get close to how much you are going to spend 😂. I have thoroughly enjoyed building my rig and I’m sure you will also, best of luck. You have a fantastic truck and I’m looking forward to seeing your progress.

Good on you guys for giving it a red hot crack. That's a beautiful and very capable machine. Once run in a bit more, you'll see an increase in efficiency. A compressor fridge is the way to go and as the truck is 24 volt, you'll have a much efficient system. Also consider, getting another diesel tank and skip the genset. Your truck's alternator is powerful enough to charge the house batteries in a short while with the correct DC-DC charger. The additional diesel will also help with the diesel heating and hot water system. As other have pointed out, consider placing the tank between the axles, as that will allow the truck to put its power down correctly on steep inclines aiding the handling of the truck. When you're finishing off the outside later on, might be worth adding a blindside camera to your list or a decent size blindspot mirror, especially useful for when you're driving in EU with your RHD truck. Loving it so far, can't wait to see how it all turns out

make also a special place to store shoes, they are awkward to store, you could also add another drawer on the floor underneath the kitchen drawers

I built a campervan last year and haven’t looked back, best thing I ever did for me and also the family.

Couple things that came to mind from yours so far. Black Van/Truck/Campervan, beware of the heat soak inside ….. it’ll be pretty hot in the summer sunshine touring Europe in an all black box.
Some of the roads in Europe are a nightmare to navigate in a Van let alone a huge Overland truck, especially in the smaller rural passes, towns etc. But I’m sure you’ve done your homework and have routes in mind where size won’t matter 😉

after watching it again and designing my own MAN KAT (the predecessor of the man hx 60)
I would take away the cabinet that is on the countertop, the hole camper will look bigger because you can watch further. and you will definitly appreciate the counterspace of 200cm. at the moment I live out of a selfconverted campervan with 2 counterspaces one is 60x60 with the inductionhub and the other is 115x60 with the sink, I am managing fine but I am just by myself and I don't do crazy cooking and baking, but when you need to prep food for a whole family and maybe friends I would really apreciate a larger counter space, you can always put a cabinet on top of the counter space if you're not happy with it but the otherway around is way harder.
