They are beautiful Donna your a fab bird mom 😎😎😎😎😎😎❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ and your right about the female lighter and not so wide ring and the male ring is more orange and bigger .

Hi Donna, We think they are probably both young males and are testing each other/ being territorial? We aren't experts, of course. Why don't you keep the quieter one, if you decided having both cannot work. But maybe if kept in separate cages, but adjacent, as your doing, they might mellow out over time? Maybe that's wishful thinking, but who knows. They are lovely though, sorry you're having trouble in the birdy world. x

I had a male Diamond dove (Dave) and a male African Ringneck dove (Fred), they were best friends. No females around, maybe that is why.

Your doves are so cute

I too question if Diamond Doves would make for good pets inside a home.

Both males you have there, and your correct there from a different clutch

If you want to keep them, I would suggest housing them separately at night. I do have 2 female budgies and the yellow pie one was very bossy and my blue one was mellow. But they eventually got along very well. I must say your doves are beautiful.

Can you do a video of them close up? Usually the males the ring around their eyes are more pronounced than females and the females rings around their eyes are smaller “thinner”

Do a blood DNA test or a feather DNA test.

I'm no expert, but I think they're both males and that the one you thought was female was just younger at the time. Did the breeder mislead you about its age?
