Come for the piloting advice. Stay for the life advice!

You are a really good instructor Emmanuel.  I learn something each time I watch one of your videos.

Thank you so much for this. I have wasted so many landings chasing the ILS Needles instantly never focused on the pitch. Very Useful!

What a nice touch down!

I am so jealous of these landings. I've tried so many times in the fenix, but each time i flare like you, slowly after 30ish feet, i just slam down.

Having flown the B757 before the A330, the bird is almost like cheating when flying "raw data"

Mad skills. Great video, thank you A330 Driver!  People, keep in mind we are seeing the results of hundreds of hours of training and experience here!  Results will vary based on your/our experience 😂.

I really agree flight simmers spend too much focus on the wrong parts... After takeoff they try to get a certain speed.. on approach they try to get a certain speed... if they can do that they'll maybe look into the correct altitude too... and if they're "real pros" they also watch their VS while doing all of that.
IRL pitch is everything.
How often did I ever look at the VSI below 500ft? - Never, at least not that I'd remember
How often did I look at the ASI below 100ft - rarely, only if there is something to look for like gusts
How often did I ever look at any Instrument shortly before or during the flare? NEVER
Get the pitch right and everything else will be alright too- why focus on three different things when one does the job too

Make more raw data videos, this is very cool, danke!!

A fantastic lesson as usual. Very helpful. It would be great to see a video on what cockpit marks you use to stay on the centreline and where you like the seat position. I did see one of your videos on seat postion using the white and red balls.

Thank you

Very good tutorial

Thanks

Excellent video as always. May I make a suggestion? For inexperienced pilots this is potentially confusing. It mixes the old school Control/Performance method of instrument flying with new technology like the flight path marker  and track. Teaching the use of attitude and power (control instruments) to attain a desired performance (heading, altitude/vertical velocity, and airspeed) is basic and is best learned first. A clear identification and explanation of the control and performance instruments, as well as the appropriate use of pitch to also control airspeed, would help immensely. The use of FPM, track, and power is so much more precise and easy to do but only once the basic relationships have been learned. My suggestion is to do a video without TRK/FPA (FLT PATH ANGLE) enabled. I absolutely loved the "bird" although I knew several new 'bus pilots who were confused by it, especially while using the flight director. Once they hand flew approaches without the FD and manual thrust (natural to most coming from steam guages), the bird was a dream. A follow up video using TRK/FPA with your techniques will then be crystal clear. I'll also add that the difference between conventional controls and the FBW system of the 'bus isn't well modeled in FS so not everything tracks real life. (This is strange to me since the desktop PC based trainer used in ground school in 1995 was nearly perfect.) The 'bus attempts to maintain zero pitch, zero roll, and zero yaw rates with centered controllers. FS doesn't achieve that at all well. The pitch changes with power and/or gear position changes are rather subtle in real life, bordering on nonexistent, but significant in the sim. Thanks for your contributions to the community.

Thank you, Emanuel, for this detailed tutorial. This is exactly the helpful instruction that I was  looking for ! And now I take a walk in the park with my simulator. BRGDS Oliver

E, Great video. One point you may have wanted to touch on as to why you should never chase the needles is, it most always results in over-correcting then having to re-correct in a never ending cycle. Your explanation was perfect. Though now I have to watch this again for the mental math you described. Another golden nugget of knowledge. Thanks

Love your videos! It has helped me so much in the sim, especially since the last couple Fenix updates. This made the aircraft handle even harder it seems. I am no pilot btw. Just love the sim. Only wish I could be… thanks again!

❤

Magic! Thank you very much for this!
