I was a Presbyterian. They believed that you go to hell if you did not accept Christ in this life, EVEN IF the person never had an opportunity to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. The LDS doctrine on salvation made so much sense. It's what I always innately believed.

I’m from 🇯🇲Jamaica, but live in North America, who was baptized as a baby in the Anglican Church, but attended a Pentecostal (Protestant)  church growing up.

When the 3 missionaries knocked on our door and told us about Joseph Smith First Vision as he was confused about which church is true because they all believe and preach different things. It was then, I realized that God did not give us all these different churches, but one that has apostles and prophets. When my family attended The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints there was so much love and the rest is History.

When I study the New Testament it is the same blueprint that is in the restored church. Many doctrines that Christendom do not understand they reject and ignore it.  I knew as a child that Jesus Christ was the Son, separate and distinct from Heavenly Father solely taught by the Holy Spirit when I read the Holy Bible.

Nobody was professing sola Scriptura or the trinity nonsense back then. What I grew up hearing was Born again christians (Baptism was highly centered on being Saved). It is this generation that have hijacked and corrupted the gospel even more. Protestantism now denies Baptism, denies obeying the commandments of God as they claim they are saved and once saved always saved, they deny works and claim sola fide by making false accusations and calling those who are Faith & Work believers as taught in the Bible that they are works based salvation believers only. All made up nonsense.

Grateful for the good that came from my protestant Christian background and how it prepared my paternal Grandmother and mother for conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love being a member of the LDS faith which has so richly blessed me with truths found nowhere else than in the restoration of Christs church and by the revelations of his living prophets.

Hats off to Ratio Christi for inviting you to speak.

That was fantastic. Would have loved to hear the q&a

Saved by grace and judged by works. Pretty simple.

Eh Hayden, do you have the recording of the Q&A from this event? Be interested to hear how that went and what questions they had and how you responded. Thanks!

I loved your thoughts about how we come to know truth and I agree. We can only know truth from God through His spirit. And that this is more than a feeling. That out of the “mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses” shall every word be established. The spirit will testify and compliment and not contradict His witnesses present and past. It builds on each other, the more we understand the spirit, how He reveals His word to us through living and studying His teachings and chosen discipleship and the more truth we gain the easier it becomes to recognize further deeper truth and knowledge from God. And His truth brings out the best in us, it makes things clear and helps us to become more like Him. It’s a beautiful thing.

Wow Hayden. I have never heard anyone present the gospel of Jesus Christ the way you did. You did a fantastic job and hopefully there were people there with open ears and open hearts.
Thank you for teaching me the truth.

The reason I am not a Protestant is that after having had hundreds of discussions with Protestants over many years, I can count on one hand the people that sincerely cared about getting the details right. The common theme is that eisegeses arguments, as well as half truths and even right out lies, are used to dimm the light of others, and with that, to feel better about their own faith.

The most notable issue I encountered is, the more I learn about ancient context in relation to the Bible, the more I see how often Protestants do not fully rely on the Bible, but rather place their own dogma above everything else, believing in a whole bunch of inventions from outside the Bible..

Which is all fine for me, as long as they do not go out, shouting our church is the church of Satan.

I am deeply grateful for a few very sincere Protestant friends I did come across, but it was and is so rare, that it leaves me with the question.

How can anyone expect me to leave Mormonism, if people trying to convert me to Protestantism care so little about the truth? Mormonism literally is one of the best means to discern how much people care about truth...

After all, God is truth, and so how we treat even the smallest of truths, even if it is with our enemies "the Mormons", is how we treat God.

So prove to me you honor truth, prove to me to honor ancient context, and there we go.

If laugh every time I read Rev 22:18...  which reads...  "If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:..."  Then they immediately break this rule by  printing more words to add to Revelations; they  add by printing the phrase, "THE END".

How did you do that whole 43 minutes without even moving your lips?...😂😅😂
Well done.

Hayden, you crushed it with this talk. Your style of apologetics is my favorite, because you’re actually approachable, persuasive… you can tell you’re trying to share the gospel as you defend it! I told this to you in person in Utah for Godwin’s Doctrines and Mysteries book release event. Keep doing what you’re doing! We love it, man.

Always love to hear your arguments for our church! Really helps me defend my own beliefs. ❤

Wait! We don't get to hear the Q&A?

I've been a member my whole life and I'm learning, so much about my own religion from these videos. Thank you. I truly love the Gospel!

Dude…Cliffhanger! We need the Q and A! Also great job!

I like what you said about not believing in feelings alone, because it is a multi-step process that requires all our faculties: reading (studying), pondering (considering), praying (exercising faith), and paying attention for your answer (which can be manifested via many different fruits of the spirit, whether it is peace to our minds, a burning in our bosom, a moment of clarity or epiphany, but basically something we recognize as originating from outside ourselves in confirmation of our own study, faith, and sincere desire to act on the answer we receive).

Wonderful job. I'm really interested to hear the rest of the discussion

There are some members that have fallen away because they felt the church went astray after Joseph Smith because of polygamy. They believe in some form of Sola Scriptura because they believe the Cannon of scripture was closed after the Book of Mormon. They are no better than the protestants.

You are brilliant and so eloquent. So thankful to have you teaching us how to teach others and defend our faith!
