Arthur Schopenhauer's philosophy of suffering and desire - calm storytelling for deep sleep and quiet clarity.
This video explores Schopenhauer's insights on desire, illusion, loneliness, and the restless will through calm, reflective narration designed for relaxation, emotional honesty, and peaceful rest.
Tonight, we move through a darker kind of wisdom - the ancient recognition that wanting never ends, pleasure fades quickly, illusion comforts the mind, and peace begins only when craving loosens its grip.
If your mind gets loud at night, let Schopenhauer be your quiet companion.
📝 A note from the curator:
This week I kept returning to one idea - not one of Schopenhauer's darker ones, but the one that arrived when I had read enough of them: that honesty about difficulty is gentler, ultimately, than false comfort. I was thinking about how many of us spend enormous energy maintaining a kind of optimism that has to be defended, rather than resting in the truth of things as they actually are. What I want for anyone who listens to this while falling asleep is not to feel defeated. I want them to feel - just slightly - less alone in the wanting. Less ashamed of the restlessness. Less surprised by their own humanity.
