That seems to exactly match my problem, so thanks for this video. I can’t send it away for repairs as I am in Australia and freight costs would be too high. I won’t try to fix it today but you have given me the courage to try your fix. Thanks

Brilliant!! I have a Winait scanner and has the same problem. I will take it apart and see if I can fix it. I actually "hacked" the firmware and the resultant scans were excellent.... Until the problem occurred.

The resulting video is awesome, I kinda want one. I work on all my own stuff. My rice rocket, electronics, home, you name it. I am to cheap and picky to pay other people but I also have what I feel to be a nice collection of things in factory oem condition. (often the most valuable state). no cars, two wheels too many.

I just purchased a new one and it was making that same grinding noise. I didn't know that was wrong until I tried using it and the film got stuck every 10-30 seconds. Searching online for a solution and came across your excellent video! I took mine apart following your procedure and found - nothing! But the large gear inside kept getting very hard to turn at a certain point when rotating by hand. I finally just tried prying that gear up with a very small screwdriver to see if I could get it off. It wouldn't move much but apparently it moved a bit, so when I then turned the big gear everything suddenly was free. I can only assume that the big gear was put on too tight on initial assembly. After I put it back together it ran perfectly! Thank you for your expertise and giving me enough confidence to do this before I returned it.

Hi! I finally have the time to attempt the repair but while I got the L shaped back plate off and can wriggle the motor/gear assembly I can’t get that part free of the body. With all the plastic components I don’t want to use too much brute force for fear of snapping something. Do you happen to remember any particular motion which got it free? Unfortunately there is a jump in the video which may have shown the action.
Thanks for any suggestions you may be able to make. Richard.
