Today’s explore took us all the way over to Barlborough Hall School, which permanently closed in July 2025 due to financial struggles. Founded in 1939, the school is set within a stunning Grade I listed 16th-century building.
After a long adventure through country lanes, fields, and woods, we finally caught our first glimpse of this incredible place – and it did not disappoint.
⚠️ HOWEVER – IMPORTANT ⚠️
We were asked by local residents who live on the boundaries of the property to advise people NOT to come here, especially at night. Out of respect, I’m passing that message on and strongly advising against visiting.
Unfortunately, we were unable to gain access during this explore as we were caught before entering, and the police attended the scene. Thankfully, the officers were very understanding and even showed interest in urban exploring themselves.
This situation could have escalated quickly, but we stayed respectful, listened to instructions, and left the property when asked. The police also requested that we share this message to discourage others from attempting to visit.
Please respect locations, locals, and the law. Urbex is about exploration, not causing problems.
