Hakke doesn't just play ghost notes on the snare. He plays entire haunted houses.

More ghost notes than an entire city full of graveyards

I saw Meshuggah open for Tool in 2002. Tool almost didnt play and came on extremely late because Maynard was angry the crowd wasn't into Meshuggah lol. Nobody there was ready or understood what they were listening to, including my high school era self lol.

How does a person’s brain actually function at that level? An absolute genius.

Chis is like, "Skip the Meshuggah entrée, give me the main course!"

Its not only that these guys are able to play this stuff, but they have to make up these things in the first place.

4/4 is the new 4/4

Meshuggah’s lead guitarist Fredrik Thordendal released a solo album called Sol Niger Within. The whole album is insane. You have to check out Zeta 2 - Reticuli from the album. It’s an amazing sax solo over beautiful cascading guitar chords. The entire album is a mind bender.

He tossed me one of his sticks at a show, one of my prized possessions

MESHUGGANS philosophy is that every instrument (including vocals) is a percussion instrument

I saw Meshuggah live in 2024. Most brutal and heavy experience of my life

Most drummers would be just trying to hang on in a song like this, and he delivers pure power throughout with a human metronome of groove.

The genius and true gift from meshuggah to the audience is Thomas haake always making sure to give any song, no matter how technical, a steady pulse that can be used to headbang to and mosh to with groove and without needing to know changes or the time or anything other than to feel the energy of the song. It's what sets them apart for sure because you can sit there and bang your head the entire song and sometimes it even causes you to decipher the time change intricacies if you just bang your head to the song. Bits amazing because it sort of teaches everyone the gift of pokyrhythm

Seen them live a few times. It's hypnotic and epic.

There is no wrong way to enjoy Meshugggah - you only have to sit in awe and enjoy the ride

Meshuggah:
(or meshuga, meshugge) is a Yiddish term, derived from Hebrew, meaning "crazy, mad, foolish, or insane" and is used to describe someone acting nonsensically or a nonsensical situation.

Ive always pronounced it Meh-Sugga, so with a little bit more force but we should probably consult the Yiddish not rely
on a swedish metalhead :)

This band has the stamina to back their technicality. Long time fan.

Clockworks is not the first Meshuggah song I heard, but it IS the first Meshuggah song I got. And then, once you get it, you can’t go back. Easily one of the most intense live experiences on the planet, absolutely phenomenal to see.

Bill Burr once said in a Podcast that he watched them with Danny Carey alongside the crowd, saying that Danny was smiling and shaking his head in disbelief while watching Tomas

So many excellent drummers in metal.
I would add Mario Duplantier (Gojira), Dave Lombardo (Slayer + others), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater).
