This video can even sell you an iMac today!

Apple had been mostly written off as "dead" the year prior to this.  I remember it strongly.  Graphic designers, publishers, and music producers kept them alive during this rough time.

Little known fact: Interviewer was calling in from the moon.

He was masterful at giving a positive spin to a negative question.

For context when you're watching this, at this point apple was where blackberry is now.

“Have we started yet? I thought we were just shooting the shit.” Low key flex 😂

If you ever wondered what it would be like to interview Steve for a position at your company, here's your POV.

He was 43 here. I like his little boy smile. And he oozed charisma. Wish he’d been smarter about his health.

Such a fucking rock star. He didn’t even know it.

i remember as an avid Windows user and IT professional on the 'Windows side' I bought the 1998 iMac to see how the other half lives.  I really liked it and my 10 year old stepdaughter-  I couldn't get her away from it.  I ended up buying the G5 iMac in 2005, then when Apple went Intel in 2006-  I bought an iMac 20" along with Parallels so I could run Windows and NEVER bought another Windows machine.  MacOSX Tiger blew me away.  RIP Steve Jobs.

It became the highest selling computer in history. By the time you unboxed a windows machine and connect it physically, you already were browsing the internet on the iMac. Then you have start installing software on the windows machine to get it even load. This is what the iMac was ahead in. Today all computers work this way.

Right before The Turtleneck Years

I love to watch how deftly Steve dodges the interviewer's attempts to corner him, even though it isn't even clear to him for the first two minutes that the interview has formally begun.

I remember my school bought a few of these colourful Macs and then no students were allowed to use it😂 they were just decoration for the library

my school growing up was spoiled, we only used iMacs and iBooks, and it made a huge impression on 10 y/o me

What a masterful response to the “not that revolutionary” question.

This is the moment Steve Jobs was interviewed by a Ring camera.

Steve Jobs could sell me anything 😂

For those younger - this tone of interview was normal for the time. Apple had dealt with the ‘doomed’ scenario for a number of years and there was a lot of pessimism and negativity surrounding the company and its products. Even with iMac, journalists were ready to be critical of Apple choices because they had no reason to think otherwise.

Gosh, I miss Steve Jobs!  He still amazes me, all these years later (2026).  Thanks for a great video.
