Vocal ANALYSIS of "One". This is emotionally deep, and Metallica again nearly had me in tears.

One of my favorite songs growing up in the early 90’s

This is about a movie of a ww1 veteran, lost all he had, his arms, legs, sight and hearing.
All he lives are his nightmares, he can't get out of the war, sees his horror 24 hours a day without any way to get out.
You both really got it.

Nice reaction. Some other songs to check out by Metallica: "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "Fade to Black", "Master of Puppets", "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)", "Enter Sandman" (the live version recorded in Moscow 1991), . . . there are so many more, but that'll get you started with awesome tunes with deep meanings. . . . Love the rope hairstyle, btw!

This was their first video ever and the best. They had at least a few albums before this and still kicks you where it hurts unless your a narcissist.

This is the song that made me want to grow my hair out when I was a kid in the 90's. I'm 35. Still got long hair and still head banging

That's the key to metal music: Give it 100% no matter what. Because it is real. Sure, give a sad song a dope-ass beat and hellraising guitar riffs. Why not, it's real. It's about intensity. This man is in a pretty intense situation, no one can argue that. So only intense music can reflect that, y'see?
And shit, even if all that stuff goes over your head and/or just doesn't hit for you, you still have some excellent instrumental sections to rock the f*ck out to. That's the beauty of well-crafted heavy metal jams, often times the music can carry the whole song. Damn the lyrics. These dudes are just fantastic musicians at the end of the day, and that deserves respect all on its own.

This song always makes me cry. Very emotional song and a true legendary that will always be remembered

The video clips were from a movie based on the book Johnny Got His Gun about WW1. It was one of three books banned during WW2. The other two were enemy propaganda.

That's the thing about heavy metal, it often addresses painful and uncomfortable topics, but with a hard-driving beat.
