I love watching the young people when they realize what the song is about 😅

It was hilarious watching you boppin' along to the tune as the singer's describing someone being whacked until the gravity of it all hit you and stopped you dead in your tracks.

The supremely talented Bobby Darin with his one of a kind voice, just kills it here, the man could do it all.

He's not a serial killer, he's a hit man.

Don't feel bad, I know people who've heard this for decades and didn't really know what it's about.

The number one song of 1959 as well.

If im not mistaken, Bobby Darin received one of the first Grammys ever in its inaugural season for this song.

Bobby Darin had so much STYLE...you can ignore what the song is about and just get totally involved with the expressive style of his singing...

I couldn't stop laughing watching the shock grow on your face as you saw the lyrics, yet just continued dancing in your seat!! Yea, this was one of the biggest hits of the year. It helped him win the first ever Best New Artist Grammy.

Mack the Knife is what they would call a " Loan Shark " and what would happen if you didn't pay up

Not a serial killer, a mafia hitman....

This song was derived from an old 3 penny opera, and is about a hitman. It was the #1 record when I was born

Mack the Knife is a song composed by Kurt Weill with lyrics by Bertolt Brecht for the 1928 musical drama. In fact, the song is about a criminal from the London underworld; the lyrics seem to have been written to describe serial killers. The song was performed in 1955 by the late Louis Armstrong. Although it's not from our time, it has had several cover versions, but thanks Angela for bringing a classic to the channel and for your interpretation, you know your stuff!😅😅🎷🎷🎶🎶

Remember Bobby Darin was singing this as a farce, spoofing. He was mocking the Las Vegas, Show Club, Jazz-lounge style of entertaining. See Richard Cheese. He did the same with an ‘Artificial Flowers’. Darin was talented. He resented being a ‘Club Act’.
