I bought a 130 year old home, the sellers put in new gray laminate over the original Douglas fir planks (I ripped it out first thing). Should be illegal to cover such beautiful old wood.
The best video on interior design I have ever seen. I just oppose the chosen words 'cheap' and 'expensive'. I don't want to live in a house that looks expensive. I want a home that is well designed.
while my sofa is not tufted (because I don't find them comfy), it is velvet forest green in a room painted Benjamin Moore Dark Walnut and I LOVE it!!! Everyone who comes to my home loves this room and B-lines it to that room when they visit. It's just a nice warm hug of a room. It was never about a trend for me. It was something I've always wanted and it took me years to find it. SOmetimes you gotta just follow your heart and not the advice of designers. You gotta know when to break the "rules".
Ok I usually agree with you, but I'd argue that my deep blue velvet sofas read as absolutely authentic to my early 20th century house rather than cheap, and the upholstery is holding up quite well 5 years on. They have a very sleek jazz age look as opposed to button-tufting though and are custom made quality construction, so maybe that gets them off the hook? 😂
I did also order lint and pet hair removal devices at the same time. I knew what I was getting into. 🙃
the condo I moved into, which I am renting, has grey wood flooring. I can't do anything about it, so I am putting very warm coloured big rugs over it as much as possible to cancel it out.
I wanted to get grey wood vinyl because I was so fed up with my sanded floors turning orange and this seemed as far from that as possible but husband and weirdly , the salesperson talked me out of it. Im glad they did.
Disagree with jewel-toned velvet sofas. Still in love with my sapphire blue velvet sectional. Comfy and low maintenance. Yes, can be dusty but all it needs is a quick vacuum.
