You didn't really ask many compelling follow-ups or interject very much but somehow got a really great Rollins interview. I think because so much time has passed he is fleshing out stories his fans have already heard a bit more and naming names more directly than he had in the past. It also seems like he has less ill will toward some of his past musical collaborators upon reflection. What a legend.
I've listened to all of Rollins' interviews, and this „series” is probably the most interesting. I'm a simple person—I see a convo with Henry and immediately sit down to listen
1st minute was rough with this acid question, but then it gets reeeeeeealy interesting. For example, I had no idea he composed the riffs by humming them to the band, that's insane. And it sheds a whole new light to this statement of his at the end of Rollins Band that he had "no more music left in him". Amazing stuff to hear.
It's a real shame so few people know Hard Volume which came after Life Time. One of their best records and the one that got me into the band. Not easy to find nowadays unfortunately. All the Rollins Band records with black and white covers are the most intense shit you've ever heard.
