I have had the MV7 for quite some time now. It lives on my desk for all types of activities. I usually run and process it via a Rode StreamerX, Rodecaster Pro II or an audio recorder. Not my favourite sounding mic, but if being a dynamic cardioid, it is quite clean even with my computer fans running close. I recently laid my hand on two Podmics (I want to start a podcast). I am not so impressed so far, it picks up way more noise from the sides and it also sounds a bit cheap. EQ does good to it though.

I have a podmic too and at first I was a little disappointed that it sounded worse than the Shure SM58 but I must admit with EQ and a bit of post-processing I really like its quality. I really appreciate you making a video about these two microphones, thank you very much!

Thanks for making this, Nick!

Can you please share links for a tutorial on how to EQ audio using Final Cut Pro or other editing software?

i have the podmic with the elgato xlr and i am having hard time doing the equalizer

i think pre EQ and post EQ the pomic sounds better i love the clarity

I am just starting to get into audio engineering. The reason I'm here is that I posted songs I remixed, sure, but that's editing done audio; I tried making my own audiobook with my own voice, and it was trash, so I need help

Yeah your eq on podmic definitely sounds better

Thanks, Nick 🙏 Apart from the quality of Podmic, it's made by Rode, an Australian company, so I tend to support them more 😁

The Shure sounds so much better.  Balanced, less fatiguing, the rode sounds like a lav.  I've used SM7s for 20 years and if you lift the top end, 2 to 5 k you get smooth detail that sounds nice and professional.  The MV7 has that kind of quality.  You'd need to do some serious top end EQ to that Rode to make it sound less cheap.

i have the shure mv7 and a goxlr mini , would i get better background noise rejection using it via usb and the motiv app compared to using it with xlr cable and goxlr mini??

Ah… i purchased the shure mic a while back and hated it. It was so muffled and my words were just not clear. I have a little girl voice, so my voice range is pretty high. I should try the podmic.

Hi, pls send link to the video about EQ thanks

My blue yeti with some tune sounds not far off these mics honestly 😂

That they use micro usb just say it’s not worth getting that mv7

I have the shure. If my lips aren’t almost touching it. You don’t hear crap. Am I missing something

Great video. I am making a podcast with my wife. Currently we are using audient id14 interface and shure sm58 mics. Now we want to make video podcast and change some equipments. Because of money problems we must decide between (buying rodecaster duo and fifine k688 or rode podmic mics) or (continue with audient id14 and buying shure mv7+ mics). Which is better? Thanx.

Hi Nick...kindly answer this:
1.Rode podmic USB
or
2. Shure MV7+
or
3. Rode Shotgun Videomic NTG

I shoot with i phone but will use the USB option to record sound on laptop. I have used Hollyland Mark 2, Fifine K678, budget wireless mics but never got the desired studio quality sound! There are so many options available, its really really confusing and can invest in an expensive mic only once now. Given the plenty of options available today, it's very hard to decide! Please help and suggest  🙏

Something imp to note: I keep my iPhone at a distance of approx 2.5 foot [32-35 inch] and I have a thin, soft voice hence need more bass in my voice. Please assist to make a choice. The reason why I lean towards the NTG is because it gives users the flexibility to even record in a standing position.

PodMic sounds 10 times better. more detail. I dont give a F about warm bottom end when I'm listening to a voice. I want top end. PodMic is the best value mic on the market

Just sell my fduce sl40 and ordered Rode Podmic))
