I understand everyone has there routine for changing the oil but I would open the filler cap and loosen the filter cap before draining the engine oil.

Just watched a more recent video of this same service by a different tech at different dealer and they said taking the vehicle out of break in period mode does unlock the full power of the car.

Really interesting to see how much debris was in the oil filter and to see what the fluids looks like. It shows why the break in period is nedded and why you need to do a service. Very thorough technician and excellent video.

But BMW has no such break-in service requirement for non-M cars, even though it should be just as important.
