This encapsulates the feeling of my old job, I was a quality analyst, night shifter, I'm not a night owl by any means but I always got assigned to night shifts.

Boss's office was empty, so I'd take my laptop, connect to her screen, put on my headphones and vibe away while reviewing spreadsheets.

I was in charge of a small team too, so, despite being the "boss" for them, I always kept it chill.

They'd come and sit around, discuss things, and believe me when I tell you, the best conversations and sensations I've ever had while being at work came from them.

I still miss them, I will never ever have a job like that again...

But when I turn this on and close my eyes, I can feel like I'll open my eyes to find the blazing white of excel open in my computer, a white monster half empty on the desk, the feeling of carrying the world inside my eyebags and my goblins knocking on the door to gossip about the latest office romance they just found about before we get to even do actual work.

I always thought I was the only person that gets lost in deep fantasies of being in a different place. Some of my fantasies would be exactly like the one in this video: a dark, lonely room in the middle of the night. The nostalgia hits so hard. For some reason, it reminds me of playing video games on the computer like Halo, Counter-Strike, and Half-Life back in the early 2000's. I don't know why, but when I look at the image in this video, I imagine it being the late 90's or early 2000's. I imagine being in a safe place, which for me is dark, lonely, and quiet. The glow of the monitors, the faint light beaming in through the windows, the isolation... it takes me to a different place. I love it.

my dad used to work at an office job late night, some days I would go visit to bring lunch and stay until he finished, 15 years later im also working a night job in a desk, must of the night being left alone with pretty much nothing to do unless there is an emergency, sometimes nothing is temporary, it feels like I never leave

Been falling asleep to this video more nights than not for the past 6 months. Definitely my favorite out of my nighttime rotation. It invokes such a calm and isolated feeling, like the peace you feel at 3 am and you’re the only person in the world. Never take this down 🙏

Strange how a place which we always dread going becomes a safe haven when things go wrong. The glow of a computer screen, the reams of paper, even the click of keys as we get acess to magnetically locked doors makes things normal, if only for a moment.

Horror sci-fi save room ambience hits harder and is more poignant because of the hell you have had to endure to catch these few fleeting moments of respite.

It is like an eldritch comfort blanket, one from which you never want to emerge.

Everything is so peaceful when the world is asleep. I would go back to night shifts if it wasn't so hard on my health. Maybe I will still.

Amazing playlist to load up "A Short Stay In Hell" to, thanks for making what you'd assume is another run of the mill hours long playlist but for me is the perfect mood set for my new found appreciation in properly sitting down and reading for a day.
