At 02:58, three Ukrainian robots rolled off an unmanned boat onto the Kinburn Spit. One ground drone armed with a .50 cal Browning, another with a thermal camera, and a third carrying 30 kilos of explosives. Not a single Ukrainian soldier stepped foot on that beach. 46 minutes later, a Russian bunker classified as having "no strategic value" ceased to exist — and with it, an electronic warfare antenna nobody knew was there.

Kinburn Spit, southern Ukraine, dawn of the assault: the first fully documented robotic operation in this war. Three machines — the Zmiy Mini for reconnaissance, the Droid TW-12.7 armed with a .50 caliber M2 Browning, and the Ratel S carrying a TM-62 anti-tank mine — advance toward the Russian "Grom-3" bunker without a single Ukrainian soldier on the ground.

The Russian Kredo-M1 radar detects the contact three minutes after the landing. The duty technician, used to false positives for three weeks, dismisses it without a second glance. At 900 meters, a fuel truck and its escort fall in 110 seconds under the fire of the Droid TW-12.7, before a single Russian soldier manages to return fire.

Russia responds by turning on its R-330Zh Zhitel electronic warfare system — $10 million in documented losses in this war, spent shutting down a conversation no one was having. The Droid TW-12.7's link drops. The Ratel S's link survives, with a full one-second delay between command and movement — the exact margin that nearly costs the mission when the robot stops just six centimeters from a buried PMN-2 mine.

At 03:34, the Ratel S detonates its 30 kilos of TM-62 against the base of the wall. The bunker collapses. Behind the rubble appears what Russia never reported: an electronic warfare antenna hidden under a tarp, the real reason why that position was never as irrelevant as it seemed.

Four Russian soldiers arrive 39 minutes later. They shoot the surviving robot three times. None of it stops it. The Droid TW-12.7 stays there holding that position, alone, for 45 days.

This video covers ground robotic warfare, unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), Russian electronic warfare, and the war in Ukraine.
