Todays reaction / analysis is concerned with the song Broken Vow by Lara Fabian, a deeply personal song about betrayal, heartbreak and trying to find a way through the pain that follows. From the moment Lara began singing, I found myself completely drawn into her world, to the point where I almost forgot I was being filmed. There is something incredibly raw about the performance, and perhaps that comes from the sense that these words have been lived rather than simply written. For anyone who has experienced betrayal in a relationship, the questions she asks may feel painfully familiar.

What interested me psychologically was the journey from betrayal towards forgiveness, and what it actually means to let go of something that has hurt us deeply. Forgiveness is not necessarily something we do for the person who hurt us, but something that can allow us to stop living the rest of our lives through the lens of that injustice. That is rarely as simple as deciding to let something go, and sometimes it is time, perspective and the wisdom we develop through pain that eventually allow us to move forward. We would love to hear your thoughts and any shared experiences you have with this song

Before we wrap up, I also want to remind you about something close to my heart, Connect, a completely free wellbeing curriculum designed for young people aged four to eleven. It’s a 250-hour programme rooted in evidence-based psychology, created to help teachers, parents, and carers support children’s mental and emotional development. You don’t need to pay anything or enter payment details - it’s freely available to anyone who signs up. If you're passionate about nurturing young minds or work with children in any capacity, I’d love for you to take a look.
