For 40 years, this wooden window has been part of the home. As the house changed its appearance time and time again, the old window stayed in place.
But the years have taken their toll. Its appearance has deteriorated, and it no longer keeps out the weather as well as it once did. Today, a new handmade wooden window takes its place, bringing the old window’s 40 years of service to a close.
In this video, I build and fit the replacement—from measuring and cutting the wood to making the joints, assembling the pieces, sanding, painting, and making the final adjustments for a proper fit.
A familiar part of the home retires, and a new chapter begins.
