If I'm going to play the Scandinavian, the modern looks the most appealing to me. I could go Qd8 and transpose into the Caro, but why not just play the Caro in that case. Modern looks better to me.
Oh, I think it's a video "made for me" ! Thank you so much, it helps a lot for my opening study ! I find that extremely interesting that you show the grandmaster line at the end !
1:05 I started out playing the ...Qxd5 variation until someone pointed out it wastes 3 tempi letting white develop just for the queen to eventually just return to where she started. I've quit playing though over annoyance with the 2.e5 advance variation and ANYTHING that happens no matter what I play against 3.d4 including the Portugese which, like the 2.e5 c5 variation, is a black hole of move orders to trip over memorizing. I'm hoping to get around theory by learning ideas and plans as I've done memorizing new to me 2.e5 c5 theory
At 6:36 you have the white Bishop with possibility of capturing the black Queen, although it doesn't do it. I understand that you're just demonstrating, but in a real game the advantages of capturing are better than the disadvantages, right?
Why on earth would White trade knights on d5, giving Black such an easy game immediately? That move is a very minor option, barely played by opponents with tournament experience.
Thank you for video. I wanted to learn Scandinavian and I will play according this video. It looks the most fun variation from what I found. It is just not clear to me what to play when white plays d5 in this situation: https://youtu.be/8AF_NKPQb-c?si=hEjYrdDMIqo8u8_k&t=883
