I have not seen this since it aired on TV in the 1980's. I ugly cried with my sister back then and tonight I ugly cried with my daughter. I found out in college that Pilgrim Soul was from a poem by Yeats and reading it made me think of this episode. Guess I am sentimental about love.
Danica McKellar, three years before The Wonder Years. What an episode to appear in, too. It's neat to still see this and think she and I are the same age. We were only 10 when this aired! CBS Friday nights in the fifth grade were awesome with a lot of shows like this.
I see the comments below and respect the opinions about romance. I can see it. For me, this story represents a person lost in escapism. Traded real humanity for digital. Living a life of faux happiness.
I'm 62, a self-confessed "original TZ" snob, but this 80's episode has "cured" me! Very well done, with a solid script, casting, and effects...."Nola" is perfectly brought to life ("lives") by the three actresses; "Kevin" is perfect, in his scene of recollection.... I, too, was a "sobbing mess"....
