Moana is a phenomenal Disney Musical. Auli'i Cravalho and Lin-Manuel Miranda did INCREDIBLE with How Far I'll Go (From "Moana")! In my "How Far I'll Go (From "Moana")" reaction I listen to one of the most INSPIRATIONAL Disney songs.

I'm a radio DJ reacting to How Far I'll Go (From "Moana") since it should've been on the radio in the US! Watch "How Far I'll Go (From "Moana")" on ‪@DisneyMusicVEVO‬'s channel here: Auli'i Cravalho - How Far I'll Go (from Mo...

Moana is a 2016 American computer-animated musical fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The 56th film produced by the studio.

The film introduces Auliʻi Cravalho as Moana and also features the voices of Dwayne Johnson. The film features original songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa'i and Mark Mancina, and an orchestral score also composed by Mancina. It tells the story of Moana, the strong-willed daughter of a chief of a Polynesian village, who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with the goddess Te Fiti.

It's my first time listening to Moana and my first time listening to How Far I'll Go (From "Moana").

This is literally the "I Want Song" of the movie, which is common in basically every musical in existence. The "I Want" song (also called an "I Wish" song) is a popular type of song featured in musical theatre, and has become a particularly popular term through its use to describe a series of songs featured in Disney Renaissance films that had the main character singing about how they are unsatisfied with their current life, and what they are searching for. It will come within the first 15 minuets of a musical movie or in the first act of a stage performance.

Examples include; The Wizard and I - Wicked, I Just Cant Wait to be King - Lion King, My Shot - Hamilton, Roxie - Chicago, Part of Your World - Little Mermaid, I Wish - Into the Woods (Best Example really), etc etc.

There's a reprise of this song towards the end of the movie, and it never fails to give me goosebumps and make me tear up, no matter how many times I hear it. A wonderful movie.

You also really need to listen to and watch “You’re Welcome” from Moana sung by Dwayne The Rock Johnson, and maybe to Shiny from that movie as well

The line from this that always really hits me is "I'll be satisfied if I play along" and that kinda feeling you have where if you just fit in and follow who they want you to be then you'll be happy, but it just never happens.

You HAVE to listen to Song of the ancestors/I am Moana as well. It tears me up and gives me chills.

I think she was only 14 or 15 when she did Moana which is amazing! She's so talented and has such a great voice

Lin is so good all I request is for you to keep on going with the hamilton reactions. Literally no song is a weak point in hamilton, every song is a banger

What gets me about this song (and all of them that Moana sings in the movie) is that she was 14 when she recorded for this movie. That’s a phenomenal voice for such a young singer.

If you're looking for the rock than listen to you're welcome from Moana

Can’t wait for the rest of Hamilton and you’re going to lose your mind with “In the Heights;” basically just 2 hours of joy in music form.

«little piggy did nothing wrong»
Accidentally the first draft of Amber's layer closing statement. In full.

You should check out VoicePlay's Moana medley. Just... trust me. Even not knowing much of the music from the movie, it's still absolutely worth it, they're fantastic. (Also, reacting to YouTube acapella groups is a great way to bring in new viewers... just saying lol.)

There's a reason Disney main characters' songs have similar themes - they're also referred to as "I Want" songs. It's how Disney movies set up the motivation of their main character. Formulaic, sure, but the formula is a classic because it works!

Im still calling for reacting to all tangled the series songs

@ThAlEdison 4 years ago

Yup, this is 100% the "I want" song for the movie.
For a Disney movie with a different sounding "I want" song, try "Almost There" from The Princess and the Frog.

In case nobody has said this already, Moana is literally the Maori word for water

@Avileable2 4 years ago

I love the fact the he paused the movie while mentioning Jasmine while unknown to him he stumbled on the Magic Carpet Easter egg😁😁

When I watched this movie for the first time as a kid (it's been six years already? Holy cow!) This song especially stuck with me. Even at the time, when I didn't understand any English at all, this Version was my favorite and I'd try to learn all the words without understanding a single one. And you're so right, the song definitely holds up today.

Moana is honestly just an amazing movie, I'd really love seeing your reaction to Shiny (i believe it's called?) from this movie. Would be interesting

To answer your question, for Film 3D animation you usually never do motion capture.

The animator usually films themselves doing the actions and then exxagerates them a lot more.

There is a really funny video of the shot progress of "do you want to build a snowman" with a fully grown man doing the 5 yr old(?) Anna actions.
