EPIC North Cascades Painting Adventure

The Art of Hiking

The Art of Hiking

After the first snow in the mountains I hiked to one of the most incredible places in Washington to paint the craggy peaks of the North Cascades!

This was my first time hiking to Cascade Pass and Sahale Arm, and I dreamed of seeing this place with a dusting of snow for many, many years. The stars aligned for a last minute hike and I was beyond excited to have time to paint at the top! It was the coldest painting session of the year by far, too!

The watercolor painting I made is one of my favorites from last year, AND I filmed the entire painting process from start to finish. I share snippets here, and the complete painting class is available in the Adventure Art Academy.

The Adventure Art Academy is my ongoing series of immersive video classes filmed outside at incredible locations across the west. I release a new class each month, and you can sign up or cancel anytime.

Watercolor is often taught as a complex and slow process, but it doesn't need to be! I teach a different way of painting that is accessible, fast, and fun - and perfect for painting outside or on adventures from home.

Special thanks to Arc'teryx Seattle for providing me with some awesome equipment for my painting adventures (I needed every single warm layer I had on this painting trip!), and my friends for waking up at an utterly unreasonable hour to start hiking before sunrise.
