People are like I don’t have a microwave because I don’t want to get radiation poisoning l. Meanwhile they go outside and the sun is blasting them with radiation 😂.

Oh gee I wonder why scientists don’t wanna work in a country where fully half the population thinks the measles vaccine causes autism…

science isn’t nation vs nation tho that’s just political manipulation. the global scientific community is very collaborative and openly friendly to each other

Really enjoyed Joe’s takes on this one. I like how he actually thinks through the arguments instead of just agreeing with the video and be boring. It makes these topics and types of youtube videos way more interesting and actually watchable

As someone who does NASA funded biology research at a university in the US, it’s really disheartening to see what is happening to science fields here.

Most graduate level classes are predominantly from other countries, typically Asian and African countries

I think its partially because the new administration is the antithesis of higher education and people are seeing this and deciding to go to abroad to a country more supportive of further education that actually wants to see the population succeed

Weird ironic fun fact. There’s a large handful of actual MISSING/Now Deceased Scientists as of recent

I go to a prep school that says the foreign student population is only around 25%, but in reality a lot of kids also live in the USA but were born in another country. If we take them into account the number is more like 50%. Harvard’s foreign born population seems small until you figure out a lot of their foreign kids are wealthy and also live in the USA.

Not after i invent pizza icecream

a few months ago i bought the "astrophysics for people in a hurry" book joe was talking about and its definetly interesting, i also recommend "On the Origin of Time: Stephen Hawking's Final Theory" if you enjoy these types of intelligent books.

In simpler words Joe, our country is choosing a profit over genuine American innovation

looking at a random mold gave us one of the best medicines we have today. as some who has had strep throat i’m glad that lady was looking at mold that day instead of just fucking around “in hopes of bettering society” sometimes you genuinely gotta just fuck around a little.

0:34 yes (doesn't really matter American currency is currently connected to oil which is connected to the only power source capable of keeping modern day society running, therefore going to America and learning is more beneficiary because the child or adult can send money back home in US currency that is generally more powerful than the currency of immigrants homeland + you can get American business connections at American schools)
