Nothing weighs on our souls as much as struggling, fighting off something that cannot be changed. The consequences are persevering thoughts and physical stress. The inner battles we wage with ourselves and the world can, in the worst case, deplete all the resources we need for a good and successful life.

In the context of difficult fate, one of the most underrated skills is acceptance, that is, the willingness to accept unpleasant developments. It describes the healing form of an inner turning, away from pain and suffering, toward a new direction that opens us up to the world again.

Acceptance means neither self-abandonment nor resignation, but rather the ability to let go with mind and heart where holding on is useless.

In this episode, join me as I visit the wise man Seneca in ancient Rome during the time of Nero, observe a former American president in a wheelchair, visit someone in a flood with me, and then let's watch an episode of "Game of Thrones" together, and learn why acceptance is far more valuable in our lives than tolerance.

If you can accept all of this, I'd be delighted if you tuned in 🙂
