Good exploration of this technique! At 11:49 you illustrate a fifth version that was quite common among the older Round Peak area players. Here, a first-string hammer-on replaces the 2-1 eighth-note drag at the beginning of the lick.

I love your videos Tom and am a better banjo player because of them. I think the reason why Clarence Ashley's playing on "The Cuckoo" sounds somewhere between an arpegio and a brush is that he is actually playing something sorta a akin to a classical/flamenco rasquedo and/or what ukulele players call a roll stroke. You can see in this video that he is actually unrolling his fingers to get that sound https://youtu.be/VwlOO8RG-og?t=210. That said, I too play it has a 16th note Galax lick. Thanks again for all the great content! My first fretless is currently being built and I shoudl have it by the end of the month. I'm definitly going to be revisiting a lot of your stuff when I get it.

Hi Tom. I love your classes and the Banjo Blitz series. If I become a "little Patreon" (the minimum monthly), do I get tabs or written material, if any, on previous, past episodes of your lessons or banjo blitz? Unfortunately, living in the Brazil and with the dollar quote so high, I cannot afford a higher level. Thank you very much. Be safe. CB
