I’m ex cabin crew. I would not feel safe flying on this airline because I’d be concerned that  the slapdash attitude to cabin safety is reflective of the airline’s entire ethos.

That awkward moment when the hotel provides better service in 5 minutes than an airline for a few hours. Good review as always Noel.

If the flight crew is not bothered, you can imagine how the aircraft maintenance crew is.

The scary part is that I’ve flown that airplane as a first officer.  All of NAM’s 737-500s originally served with Continental and were parked soon after the CO/UA merger.  The interior of the plane hasn’t changed at all except for the seat covers.  The didn’t even bother to take the old Continental ship number placard off the cockpit door…incredible.

As cabin crew myself thats embarrassing. The lack of safety, security and service is not we are about.

I’m an Indonesian, and I've never flown with NAM air 😅
You are braver than some of us locals 😂

As a former loadmaster/mechanic/ground handler I have serviced that old plane when it was about 15 years younger.

"Noel Philips: he flies Nam Air so you don't have to"  😀

It’s hard to say which is Indonesia’$ worst airline when they all compete so hard for that title.

Nam are dreadful but Indonesians are the world's nicest and warmest people. They're constantly so happy. It's so nice to be around them.

Speaking a tiny bit of Bahasa Indonesia helps enormously when finding your way around Indonesia.

Don't feel to bad Noel regarding off duty staff getting biz seats and food etc, it happens in Australia to, about 12 months ago I traveled Biz from New Zealand to Melbourne and quite clearly a family of off duty staff were in Biz and the kids were running wild and staff were feeding them non stop and almost ignoring the other pax.  I get that there are perks to the job but be DISCREET about it FFS.

Hello Dear Noel, retired (by injury) Continental Airlines flight attendant here.  The original seating in the mid 90's was a dark blue/black leather so these are definitely not the originals.  Funny......as stews we LOVED the 500.  8 pax in FC and only about 100 in YC.  The galley up front in FC where I worked was a dream....plenty of room for everything.  We referred to it at CAL as the Barbie Dream Jet.  As a fellow stew once said...."Love the 500.  Just about the time you break a sweat, you're done."  Happy travels, my friend.  P.S.  Yes, I still miss it.  I always will.

Bruh, there's something worse than lion air? Lmao

So NAM Air goes onto our bucket list. To be emptied into the nearest bin. As a frequent visitor to Indonesia I have to say that this treatment by cabin crew is not typical of Indonesians.

I'm Indonesian and I avoid that airline like the plague.

Noel, you're a brave man flying on a third-rate airline operating geriatric aircraft in a country whose aviation safety practises aren't up to industry standards.  You're lucky you arrived in Jakarta safely.

I couldn't thank you enough for taking the bullets for us... We locals rarely taken it too due to its unfamiliarity, we had our concerns like "Is it worst than Lion...?" And now we all have the answer

Nothing better than a mid week video from Noel. Thank you so much!

The staff on NAM Air were the peak of indifference.  That looks like a great hotel in Jakarta.
