My main difficulty rn is surfing top to bottom and doing maneuvers on backhand surfing. I feel very stuck when I try to do a bottom turn and climb the face of the wave vertically to do a snap..

Any tips on when to decide to do that or top to bottom? I feel like some sections outrun me when I do that in most beach breaks on the US east coast
