Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone has had seven video games made out of it. From the classic popular PS1 Philosopher's Stone to the niche GBC or GBA Harry Potter games, to the more recent LEGO Harry Potter or Harry Potter Kinect game, Harry's first year at Hogwarts has been covered in more movie tie-in video games than any story in history. Today, Woofa plays every single Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone (or Sorcerer's Stone) video game so you don't have to.

The PS2 version is the same game as the Xbox version. Also yes apologies I did misgender Hedwig (the owl is a she).

It's 2026 and you didn't play the PC version with the highest graphics...

The PC version has quite a bit of charm to it. I think one of the highlights of it is the art style and lighting

In the novel, Hagrid gave Harry the flute as a christmas present and so when trying to reach Fluffy, Harry brought the flute to play it and make the dog fall asleep, but Quirrel had already used the arp, but was stopping to play so the trio had to use the flute regardless to avoid Fluffy waking up

PS1 version soundtrack was done without them knowing what the movie score would be. It was scored by Jeremy Soule (guy who scored SKYRIM!!)

I played the PC one back in the day. I must say I have really enjoyed it.

5:03 This became a great Finnish meme of "Harri, voisitko tuoda mulle tulisiemeniä." Made famous by the Finnish youtuber Ulttis for drawing attention to how intensely Hagrid just says it out of nowhere shortly after Harry's arrival. Don't know how famous the meme is across all of Finland, but I still find it really funny.

The flute is also lore accurate. Hagrid does give Harry a flute in the book. And there is no harp. Harry, Ron and Hermione take turns playing the flute to keep Fluffy asleep while they all go through the trapdoor.
It seems to me that this game might actually be the best game (aside from the obvious mechanics and graphics issues)
Edit: I'm still on the first game, so the PS1 version.

0:58 Oh he does indeed hit the book version of Dumbledore pretty good. There he was portraid more goofy than in the movies, saying random stuff and so.
Same with the flute and Fluffy. Thats following the book, not the movie.
The PS1 and PC games from HP1 and HP2 in generel follow more the story of the books than the movies.

11:38 as i recall, the flute thing is actually closer to how it went down in the book, so it's not as random as you might think. I haven't checked the date, but the game was probably in development before the movie came out, like a lot of movie tie-ins.

Tip for the nut levitating minigame in ps1: if you don't levitate it but you keep it ground level no owl is gonna eat it because they fly higher

That GBA HP though, I get your frustration lol

I grew up with the PC versions of the games, to the point where I've actually played the games more than I've watched the movies or read the books, lol. The atmosphere is top-notch, the music is fantastic and magical, and the gameplay is simple but fun for kids. However, I have to say I think Chamber of Secrets in the best game of the 3. It actually has a fanbase of its own (well, all 3 do, but it looks like it's the most popular) and even has a dedicated modding scene where people make custom levels! Super cool stuff to see these games still capture the imagination 20-something years later <3

I completed the gameboy color one and it was actually really neat the whole rpg style although I was stuck so long on the devils snare section.

I have the GBC game and when I was a kid I saved while Neville is frozen on the floor right at the end. But I was standing too close and you can't walk through Ron or Hermione, so I basically softlocked myself standing over Neville by accident.

@IAMYAMAMA 5 months ago

GBC was the best version imo, plus being able to NG+ over and over was crazy

I do enjoy your dedication to the Crocodile Dundee voiceover :D

I remember playing the game boy advance version, and it was a pain, I couldn't get past that first maze because I kept on dying because of those stupid monsters, and I couldn't find the items that I needed to complete it.

I remember playing the Chamber of Secrets for Game Boy color so much as a child. I loved it to death and i didnt know that every other game, aside from philospher's, were their own thing in terms of gameplay until i got Goblet of Fire for gamecube lmao
