Okay so this kit doesn't have early RG syndrome... you are implying this is molded as a copy the 1.0. it is not.
It's based/a copy of the 2.0 same as the fatcat, it doesn't use any Advanced MS Joint frame runners for the MS which is the usual cause of this. (technically the P-Bandai weapon set has it. with the Gundam hammer chain).
When YouTubers say it has that its slang for it being a droopy mess usually because of this or as parts fall off alot, which this kit isn't, instead its too tight to assemble or pose. (from what I saw the only parts that fell off, where parts that were not yet sealed with is outer plates)

The culprit is that the original KO of this is ALL READY super tight for some fittings either due to the change in material from PS to ABS or as the measurements for fitting might be slightly off. This being a main issue with KOs in general. if you ever get a KO alway expect something will be too tight or too loose.it is rare to get something easy to build with no tolerances issues.

This is multiplied further by having multiple layers of paint and topcoat on it to achieve the custom color. the normal work around would be to sand or use a hobby knife to remove material or widen pegs holes to reduce the tight fit....however doing that on this for this product means more painting afterwards to cover up the original runners colours on exposed surfaces.


I know this as ive built this exact product in a different scheme. it has some more of the original white parts than the Red Casval one which is entirely painted (outside the inner frame). I found the bare plastic tight but was workable with trimming and sanding. The painted parts were an absolute nightmare to fit as I didn't want to damage the painted surfaces.

I would say this product is an irregular for KOs as 90% are molded in the colour rather than being sprayed on the runner. heck this product would be a lot better if it was molded in the colours but that would be rather expensive given the amount of variants they are offering.

If you are thinking of the FatCat you might wanna do some research before hand, as if it isn't the original colour scheme it is likely you will be dealing with this AGAIN but bigger.


Also for your own safely DON'T use your teeth on a painted kit especially if you don't know what paint they used lmao. For some parts you can sandwich the pieces between the grip of your nippers to apply some light force like a plier (dont use your expensive godheads).

Also as another recommendation don't use Tamiya panel liner on a finished kit especially if it's ABS. the strain from the snapfitting will likely cause more cracking if the liner gets to some parts of the model. You will either want to apply small amounts while its still on the runners or use a non enamel liner.

I really wish Changlong just used proper Char colors instead of pre-painting whole runners. The default 5501 was a really smooth build with minimal fitting issues, and locally it's priced around $15. For the value and quality, I think it's still the best RG RX-78-2 bootleg on the market.

You should definitely try the FatCat, both their RX-78-2 and God Gundam RG upscale are definitely an upgrade to Bandai's RG and blow most bootleg kits out of the water

They spray paint it on the runner. Bandai basically does the same with their special coating kits. Same issues. How would the gates be painted when they aren't even cut? It's actually nice of them to include the touch up paint to fix the inherent flaw of this method

You should try out SNAA's kits (third party not bootleg). They're RG the size of an MG for the price of an HG with the amount of accessories of an MGEX (at least for the Percival). In my opinion they're straight up better than Bandai right now.

I bought a KO RX-782 PG kit for about $65 using coupons and codes and it was amazing.  One of the best KO kits I've ever built

1:40 I just built one of those HG Yokohamas a couple of weeks ago and I was absolutely mind blown.. super sturdy, comes with extra hands, effect parts for the weapons and thrusters AND comes water slide decals.. its an absolute steal for $10 and actually blows a lot of Bandai HGs I've built right out of the water imo

Adding a layer of paint to all of the parts is  probably why they’re fitting so tight.

As someone who owns an official copy of the RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0, for such a small figure the engineering and articulation exceeded my expectations and I’d definitely recommend if that’s your style. HOWEVER!!!! I’d say my least favorite part was the decaling NEVER HAVE I FELT SO MUCH STRESS!!!! Losing such small decals (which I did 💀) but beside that absolutely love it! 8/10 would recommend.

I just got the Farmers "Fortune meow" MG rx-93 kit, and man, its a huge box with tons of runners. Its based on the Fortune meow resin kit, but its made into a full kit. Really impressed with it so far, currently painting the orange parts Metallic Blue. only issue I know of, you need to drill the shoulder joint a bit, because the peg is a little tight and might snap. also comes with the stand, 12 fin funnels, photo etched metal sheet, and water slides.

Oh, they provide the colors to touch up the parts where you cut them of the runner? That's an interesting approach.
